Radar Detector

Hey All -

Anyone have recommendations on a radar detector for an 07 G35x Sedan? I've read a lot about the Escort series.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated and pics of your current installation would be even better!

I'd stick with the Valentine 1 or the Escort 9500i - all in all, they're the same system, with the V1 having arrows showing you where the signal is coming from.

Add a stealth line and a mirror mount or Mike's mount and you're golden! Do a quick search for more info and pics, they're all over the forum!

Excellent, I found a few threads on it already and that was the general consensus.

http://stealthmirror.com/showcase.htm Are those the general mirrors people prefer? What does those require for installation?

Does anyone here have a motorcycle? I just purchased an R1 and looking for a detector for that as well.

^ Nice find! But that $550 price tag doesn't include the $400 radar detector!

Yeah, those mirrors look fantastic, however I can't justify the $500+ purchase price.

9500ix, it has a GPS built in so that it can block out false singles and mark locations, also it has the traffic cam database. Over all it's a more advanced system then the V1

^ the new ones can, worth it imo, even if they save you a couple of times that should help pay it off itself considering you'd save on the insurance hike as well.

Do people sell them used? If so, are they still good as the new ones or do they go through some abuse?

It really depends on the area. However, having a laser detector is only good for letting you know your about to get pulled over. A laser doesn't scatter like a Ka, X or any of the other signals which allows a unit to detect it a lot further away. A laser is so direct that when your unit detects it the cop already has your speed. In this case a laser jammer would be the best option but theres very few that work well and very few that won't **** off a cop if he gets you. The ones that do work well often come with very expensive built in systems.

I have the discontinued beltronics sti-r which is professionally built in to my car and works like a charm. Although I def wish I had gps and better false alarm technology that the new escorts are offering. I hear and read only great things about those detectors.
