Poor Tach Design

Watch out ... It seems as though the tachometer in our car has a design flaw based on the number of threads I've uncovered. It looks like it is overly heat sensitive. Here are pics of mine after 100+ degrees yesterday for reference:

Cruising at hwy speeds:

Car off:

At idle:

CAMP2 at idle:

Yesterday in Southern CA which is when I took the pics with my phone. Ambient temp was in the high 90's, but my car was parked in the sun. Temp actually read 107 when I first got in.

I hope this is still under warranty for me.

5K rpm at 74 mph would be scary if real lol.

They should warranty it Terry, they'll replace the entire gauge cluster like they did on mine for the burnt out LED's behind the tach.

Good thing you have the actual digital rpm readout else it would be quite unsettling, I REALLY hope they cover it but i can see them giving you a hard time with all your mods...

I hope you get that covered, Terry.

FWIW, my car has been in way hotter weather than that over the years and thankfully no issues yet *knock on wood*.

What happens if you redline the car and bounce off the limiter?

I already tried it ... the tach signal is still correct. It just pulls into redline. Guess I should have taken a 9K RPM picture for the fun of it!

Oh heck yeah, absolutely you should!

Think about it . . . it would be totally sig worthy.

(BTW, just think how much money you'd be saving over the normal cost of an engine build capable of making 9k rpms)
