Please help WHEELS/TIRE ques.
i have an 07 G35x
Currently with stocks wheels and some mixed match tires, rears are the same brand, fronts are the same brand (how i bought the car). Im due for new tires all around and wanted to go with the Michelin pilot A/S sport (17" inch tires). On tirerack.com (a highly recommend tire source on this forum) these would run me about $716 with shipping cost. Locally i can get them for 816 WITH insurance AND mounted. So i was just going to go local if i got these tires.
Before i committed i have been HOPING a good deal on some tires OR tires/wheels deals would come up. One that would obviously work with my AWD model. I have been looking on and off for about a month and some weeks.
I am not a big O LOOK AT MY RIMS fanatic, and that is not to say anything bad against people that are. I appreciate good looking wheels, but I personally do not care enough about it to spend the kind of money some do their wheels. But with that being said i wouldn't have minded a nice set of wheels on my car if i found em for a GREAT price. Im cool with buying used wheels to get em at a fraction of the price.
So here goes my question.
Keeping these in mind:
i NEED tires (17inch), and that will cost me about 820 after its all set and done
i dont care/want to spend over 1200 between wheels and tires.
i DONT want CRAP WHEELS. i would rather have STOCK wheels over CRAP after market wheels..
Privat (the brand of these wheels in question) are supposed to be the "luxury" line of Konig wheels.
------------
What do you guys think about this current deal
again i currently have an 07 G35x.
FOR *EIGHT HUNDRED* bucks
the sale is for both Wheels and Tires
size: 18x8.5" (all around)
offset: 30mm offset
18" Privat Rennstadt
black opal colored
polished lip
no curb rash what so ever, mint condition, no bends, only about 2 months old
Tires: 225/50/18 Falken Ziex 912
245/45/18 falken Ziex 912
(tires have Ninety-Nine percent thread left)
also OEM Infiniti TPMS.....
---------------
What do you guys thing, feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Brand new i know the tires alone are UP THERE in price, but my concern is that if these are cheap crap wheels and say they break on me, that i would be then forced to put back on my Stock Wheels (of which i would STILL need new tires for and have to go buy new tires) OR have to go find replacement Wheels for the 18inch tires i would now have. But i dont drive crazy, i speed ON HIGHWAYS mostly highways i am familiar with so i guess the concept of hitting a crazy pot hole doing 90 is a non issue for me.
all things considered what do you guys think

thanks in advance for your opinions.

I think OEM G37 19's or M45/35 19's would be a great alternative for you. Don't purchase low quality aftermarkets which you will regret later on. Are you lowered at all?? Unless you are lowered, I would advise you do stay away from any aftermarket wheels with lips.
Just my .02

and a much appreciated .02
That was REALLY what i wanted. M45/35 wheels and tires. Not that i am doubting your statements, but i am looking get a little more educated. "Don't purchase low quality aftermarkets" in a general sense i totally agree, but specific to this case would you consider Privat (Konig) wheels "low quality"
"I would advise you do stay away from any aftermarket wheels with lips."
whats the reasoning behind this? Again just trying to get a lil more educated vs trying to spark a debate that i disagree.
and i am not lowered at all. Car is Pretty much stock expect for my rotors, pads and stillen exhaust.
THANK YOU for your feed back.

o another thing, i dont want tires/wheels that are seasonal. Would 19's not require i swap em out in the winter when the snow comes. im between NY/NJ/MD and all these locations get hammered in the winter.
Just wanted to chime in here a bit.
Privat/Konig wheels aren't necessarily bad makes, but they're not considered to be of the highest quality either. That said, you should be fine with them if you like them and the price is right. As for the comment on lips, soft wheels with that feature tend to bend much easier, so if you go lipped, make sure they're high quality wheels.
Then again, any wheel subject to a lot of force will bend. I've bent forged wheels just the same.
That said, for 18s, i would suggest a lipless design, otherwise it'll look smaller than they really are -- that is if you care about that facet at all.
Thing to keep in mind, on the Falken's, i believe those are non-directional tires so you can easily swap the mounted tire (on wheel) from left to right. Seeing as they're staggered, this is your best bet for longevity. But that's it.
The square set-up Pilot Sport A/S are directional, you can rotate front to back on your own. By mounting/remounting you can also rotate them left to right, extending the life of the tires further.

in this specific case would you consider these wheels to be "soft"

BTW I advised that you stay away from wheels with lips if you are NOT lowered. IMO Wheels with lips just don't look right on cars that are at stock height. If you don't plan to lower the car, I think it would be best to keep it OEM with G37 19's or M45/35 19's or even just to upgrade to the 2nd gen sedan 18" sports wheels.
IMO it would be ideal to have 2 sets of wheels if you see a lot of snow throughout the year. Depending on $$$ you invest in your aftermarket wheels, it would definitely be a smart move to have another beater set for the winter. This would be the best way to maintain and prolong the condition of your aftermarket wheels.
KONIG's are not horrible in terms of quality for cast aluminum wheels. It's just not something I personally would ride on my car due to its weight and style. IMO it's a decent budget option for those who cannot afford custom forged wheels that cost well over $3k. I am not sure if you are familiar with the difference b/w cast vs forged aluminum wheels but in short, forged wheels are usually much lighter and stronger than your avg cast wheels. However they are also much more expensive. In the end, just go with what you think looks the best and what your wallet can afford since you will be the one driving it everyday.

those are my wheels that I am selling and not because I can't afford $3k wheels, I just wouldn't get $3k wheels to worry about these horrible road conditions we have here. Even the Vossen wheels seem to crack a lot out here in our roads.
And you're spending $800 bucks on these rims that are less than a month old, not some used OEM wheels that have been out there for 2 years in harsh conditions...
^ You are correct. I wasn't trying to say that everyone on budget rims cannot afford something better. Like you said, some of us just choose not to spend that much on wheels even if we have the financial means to do so.
OP asked for our opinions on the wheels, so all I did was share my thoughts on them. That's all. I am sorry if my comments may have affected your sale. That wasn't my intention plus I had no way to tell that these are your wheels for sale b/c I am no psychic. GLWS

thats why I wouldn't put crap wheels that aren't strong and well made on any of my cars...
OEM 18" wheels are probably the way to go if you're planning to stay at the stock height and want to keep the durability. I have seen the oem 18" sport wheels for our sedans come up often enough with tires for around 600-800 depending on the condition of the tires. You just want to be on the lookout for a non staggered set so you can rotate the tires. I have the oem sport wheels that I will be selling but they are staggered so it will probably be of no use to you. But I think you will see them come for sale often enough to find the right set for you.
