I had this issue before i was dropped and on my OEM wheels. Same speed you're getting the vibrations from as well...

Haven't read the whole thread, but if you ahve the sport package, make sure you have the big wheels and tires in back, and small wheels and tires in front.

Just bought my 08 and the dealer had the small wheels on the big tires, etc.

Steering wheel shake at freeway speeds.

Few easy checks..... check your lug nuts... jack the car up and grab the tire and try to shake it. If it moves you probably need a new ball joint.

shake it which way? lol. My car is also vibrating steering wheel and car itself. I redid the front rotors (couldnt do back because too thin) and it was better only for a little bit then it went back to its old ways.

BUT

someone in this thread talked about TPMS. When I bought the car there were no TPMS and the dealership later put them on, I never noticed any vibration because i rarely went over 70mph in Washington State *speed limit 60mph*. So I'm pretty sure those bastards never balanced it; going to try and balance, align and check to see if its good.

I have a similar issue. I just got new tires (cooper cs4). I noticed everytime I get to 60, my arm on the steering wheel starts vibrating. The faster I get, the worse it gets. I just took them in and had them rebalanced, so I don't know if that did the trick. I will put some miles on it tomorrow. cooper has a 45day return so I am good to go. I may just break down and get the Miche pilots and say screw it. My old Goodyears had no issues of vibrations, so I know it isn't my alignment.

Update. I swapped out to my 18's (winter set up) and the car drives like a dream! No more wobble or shaking on the steering wheel. So now ive confirmed it either the tires of bent wheels. The tires on the summer 19s setup are yoko S drives with 245/40/19 all the way around. I am now on the stock 18s at 215/50/18, I believe. Obviously, the smaller profile on the summer is going to make me feel every bump and crack in the road, but the difference between the 50 and 40 should not be this significant. Im not happy with the Yokos so I am going to dismount them and chuck them or sell them. While I have the tires off, I can inspect and make sure the wheels have no bends. (I have to dismount them anyways bc Im powdercoating the 19's!DOMO). Long story short, my problem was related to wheels/tires, not hub.

Nine times out of ten, it usually is. Glad you got it narrowed down.

I tend to agree....i think im going to try the OEM size 225/45/19 and maybe an all season tire.

On a Similar note, My shop put on some Cooper CS4s and I was getting vibrations and noise beyond belief(especially at 60 to 75 MPH) He even tried to balance them twice. I noticed he had put on "T" rated and I took them back and got V or U rated (cant remember which). It was like night and day. I do get a little vibration on could mornings for about 2 miles, but it goes away quickly and is far less worse than the T rate tires warmed up.

Side not. So far these tires are great!!! I have had plenty of rain but haven't used them in snow yet. Love them, as the AWD light has yet to come on(unless I make it come on ). I highly suggest these if your looking for a decent $530(After rebate), set of tires.
