Not sure I agree .... water will easily get in through the key opening.

The way they are made, there is a rubber gasket that protects them from getting wet on the inside. Unless you have opened them before and not put back correctly, the chances of water getting in is slim.
^+1 . Corrosion happens over time so I would still take it apart and put the PCBA into a container of uncooked rice to draw out any remaining moisture. They even say rinse it out with distilled water if the ikey went into salt water before drying in rice.
