Blinking key on dash when I am out of the car

I finally installed my Cobb today after it collecting dust for more than a year and noticed that key blinking on the dash afterwards. It goes out after I start the car, and all the key functions work as before. It is not the low key battery warning. My question is if was always like that and I never noticed or if this is new. The manual says it is the cars factory alarm. Comments please.

Are you able to lock the car? Just wondering if it's warning you that you have left a key in the car (ie. you can't lock the doors). I've dropped my spare keyfob behind the seat before and it nearly drove me nuts before I figured out what was going on.

^ yup its normal and blinks to indicate that the cars alarm is activated to deter novice thieves... the blinking slows down the longer the car is parked to save battery which is why its not always noticeable.

Wow, I did not know that either, I always assumed it just went out completely after a minute or so, kinda like the dome light after you close the doors.

(btw, don't tell me you actually sit and stare at her dashboard after you've put her to bed and she's sleeping kool )
