Drive Sport problem

Hey Guys,

Been having an issue lately with the Drive Sport (DS Mode) in my 07 G35. I'll be driving it in DS mode and be shifting gears and then randomly (there really is NO ryhme or reason) it will change to "D" mode (automatic) and not let me shift the gears although the shifter is still fully engaged into DS mode.
Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Never had the problem before, but it seems like it's losing the sense of where which position the shifter is in. I'd be considering/checking for linkage, switches, or possibly even an ECU reflash. Beyond that, it's gonna get into $$ and professional help.

If you did a search on that problem, you'd find it was related to the shifter mechanism.

^^ Ouch! Looks like they run about $300 for the part alone.

I never had that problem before. Try this when you have time. Clean the contacts. Who knows, it could be dirty.

It's not the contacts, because you can still feel/hear the tactile response from the shifter mechanism while in DS mode (using the lever).

That's about right...I had the same issue but fortunately they fixed it out of goodwill even with my warranty expiring. Try to work with your dealer on this because this is probably quite common. Contact corporate!

I Just posted about this problem too. I had this problem about 2 years ago and had it fixed under warranty. I went back to the paperwork and it said that the micro switches needed to be replaced. Im trying to do the repair myself but have no clue where to buy these micro switches lol

Unless you find a diagram that says otherwise, I would assume that the switches are incorporated into the solenoid unit they replace to fix the problem. If that's the case, I doubt you could only change the switches.
