To add to cleric's comment, set the parking brake 'on'. On manual transmission Nissans this is spelled out for the idle relearn but on automatics no one mentions it. I couldn't get the relearn to take even using the NDIS app until I set the parking brake on. Another requirement is the steering wheel being dead-centered. Anything off-center, the power steering pump is "working" and adding a very slight load on the engine.

Never try to fix anything that isn't broke and it you don't know what you are doing leave the job to a pro.
Question: "How do I do this?"
Answer: "Take it to the dealer"

The engine and transmission need to be at operating temperature as well. Why my first attempt at the reset failed. Originally Posted by cleric670@gmail

just cleaned mine and it never crossed my mind that drive-by-wire could be so finicky... it did take longer than usual to crank and fire up, but looks like throttle response has improved significantly (it did have some carbon buildup). fingers crossed i won't have to take it to the "pros" lol

You'll know if it's bad immediately. Is it idling normal ? If so, you're good to go.Originally Posted by 99zx2turd

Eugene with Enthusiast auto care in Concord, CA was able to do in 1 hour what the knuckleheads at the dealer could not. No replacement of ECU or both throttle bodies needed (as dealer called out in my case.)
It's mind boggling that Nissan doesn't care enough to notify their dealers or customers about a proper fix for this. The 2007 models seem to have a particularly difficult time with this idle relearn problem.

No, throttle bodies are generally not damaged by a little cleaning and moving.
What did they do? ECU flash? I the same boat with an 07.Originally Posted by paperthinnissan
