Sunroof Issues (stuck open) (noise)

Hi Everyone,

A while back my sunroof got stuck open and was making a horrid sound which Ive noticed other users have had before.

I was traveling on summer vacation when it happened so I just took it to the first Infiniti dealer I could find. I told them I just needed it closed so I could get home. $130 to close it. I was told that the motor would have to be replaced.

Got back home and took it to the dealer in town. Told them what happened and they said $400 to replace it. Didnt even want to look at the car. I was like how do you know the motor failed. They said common problem.

So after doing some research on the forum I decide I would try to replace it myself.
After removing the head liner I realized the bolt that hold the motor to the roof was missing. It was sitting atop the map light. Anger!!!

After reinstalling the bolt and doing the sunroof relearn the roof is fine. It has been fine for over 4 months now. Kind of angry with the original dealer on this. They could have just reinstalled the bolt and said hey we fixed it $130 and I would have been happy. But they didnt. They even left the bolt on the headliner and reinstalled it.

Just thought I would share because I see others have had the same issue. Hope this helps and I have also done a write up on it.

Thanks for looking.

I did. I left that out of my DIY because I don't plan on taking it out again. Others might.

The blue is always removable if need be, I rarely see a need for the red, especially where you could never apply heat. Excellent DIY
