What type of oil are you guys using?

Unless you are using your car for a taxi, towing a lot, or driving mostly dirt roads, you'd be fine going well past 3750 on the Castrol dino oil; at least 5000 and perhaps even 7500 are doable and will maintain your warranty just fine. But I agree, there is virtually no difference you will receive from using synthetic over more frequent dino oil changes. I think if you do the math though, you'll see that synthetics aren't twice the cost though, so more frequent changes actually cost more and require more effort than using synthetic.

Still, good to know when I go over 4k I'm not necessarily killing my engine

Of course I say all this, but I'm also a guy who uses synthetic and changes it it every 8K miles or so. However, in my own defense, I do it knowing full well that it's not necessary. I will never realize any appreciable difference (vs dino oil at 7.5k intervals) during the duration of my ownership of the car, or even the useable lifespan of the car overall; it just makes me feel good is all.
