I don't really care about money, but don't wanna pay for crap unless it makes a difference and its worth it

SO, what did you find? How much difference did it make? Did you establish a control to take into account normal differences between dyno runs, or did you just happen to do it and assumed that the oil change was THE factor.

No idea what you have in mind.
LOL, yeah, I'm guessing you missed my point. I never meant it wasn't safe; quite the opposite, I meant that it was ridiculous overkill and essentially a recurring waste of perfectly good oil that should have been used more.

Who says the oil can go longer than 4,5,6,7 or 8k? The VQ is very hard on oil. Your driving style does not = someone elses. Yes It can change very easily based on driving style. So 5k is perfectly fine OCI for someone who has no idea. If they care they could do a UOA for $35 with TBN and figure it out.

WOW. Like I said before, unless you're using your car for a taxi, towing a lot, or driving mostly dirt roads (and I guess I should add racing), I'd take that bet that you're not using a synthetic to its fullest at a 5K OCI; in a heartbeat!

My OCI is 5k on Penn Platinum, the money I spend on oil is insignificant compared to other regular expenses. I just stock up 4 or 5 oil changes worth of oil when it's on sale, buy filters in bulk on line. Comes out to like $25 per change. I'm fully aware of the significant mileage life of synthetic over dino but I don't mind changing it a bit more often, I get it mainly for the improved lubrication qualities.
