Any1 else using Rotella T6 5w40? I have been on mobil 1 5w30 full syn, but T6 is much cheaper and really good stuff. I use it on my sportbikes, just wondering how a heavier oil would do in the VQ.

May I ask why you have chosen that regimen for your car? Is it for some kind of extreme duty you are subjecting the engine to, or is it just for the 'warm and fuzzy' feeling it gives you?

I drive it pretty hard and it gets at least 1 autox a month, if I hit the road course it gets changed as soon as I get home even if it has 100 miles on it lol

Castrol 5W30 Full Synthetic (Titanium)...

...with the Fram Ultra filter. If memory serves, I believe I read that the oil is rated to last at least 10,000 miles. The filter is (supposedly) rated to 15,000 miles - not that I would ever be insane enough to run either of the two that long in my vehicle. I merely like the idea of metal reinforced dual-filter media and an oil that is designed to last far longer than I would ever imagine running it.

Normally, at about $10 a quart, I cringe, every time I have to change my oil; however, Advance Auto just had an almost month-long sale on all synthetic oil, Buy One, Get One Free, so I got 30 quarts. The way I see it, I'm going to buy this stuff, anyway, so I'll spend $150 now to save $150 more later.

THIS. If I ruled the world, anyone starting a new "what oil?" Thread without first having presented proof of reading this thread would be subjected to 3 hours of having dirty oil dripped on his forehead from the pan of a '78 Yugo.

Iám using Castrol Syntec 5w-30 and the car feels better than mobil 1 5w-30.
Based on the graph I believe there is more protection with Castrol.
Correct me people if Iám wrong.

For about the last 30 years, I've used Castrol religiously. Though I do think a great deal of it is driver preference - not that there isn't viable data out there to backup one's opinion (assuming people are willing to listen\be open-minded). Regardless of manufacturer, I'm a firm believer in synthetic over organic. I just know that I've driven my vehicles hard - high RPM's, even redlining them, driving in 110* F to -18* C temps - and Castrol has never let me down. While an organic may have done well, I feel the Castrol (full synthetic) has excelled.

Guys, given all the acute overthinking that has gone into this topic, and that it is apparently so important to use the right oil lest you suffer all this supposedly inordinate engine wear, then there should be legions of poor sad SOB's with their engines falling out for lack of having chosen to look upon our sagely threads on which is the RIGHT oil to use. SO, given that, WHERE ARE THEY???? Where are all those people with their engines failed due to lack of proper lubrication. Statistically, there must be thousands, if not millions, of these poor unfortunates who chose wrong. Is there a private forum where they all hang out and exchange their sad tales? Please, someone link me to it!
