Just like the title says. Has anyone done this? I was reading about it on the 370Z/G37 forums, and it seems like it might be worth doing. A few people have just removed the helper spring, but noticed there's a little play to the pedal after. Others have replaced the OEM spring with another spring that has a smaller rate.

I'm sure I'm not the only person that felt like it was their first time driving stick when I got into my G.

Just looking for some feedback. Also, if this has already been discussed, post a link and I'll delete the thread. I searched, but obviously to no avail.

I've had mine out like that for a while but it helps with only part of the problem. I have an RJM AFP clutch bracket kit coming that will hopefully be much better. I have not seen any bad reviews on it and I like that you can adjust it back to a stock setting and tune it with a dial.

I did both.
After about a year without the OEM spring I began having an odd intermittent clutch problem. Kind of a dead pedal feel that's hard for me to explain.
I purchased the light duty spring from Jsolo and can say that after about 4 months I haven't had the clutch issue again and the clutch feels the same as when the spring was completely removed.

 

I did both. Can't ask for any better...absolutely love the clutch/gearbox!

OK, just so we get the FULL balance of people's experiences here, there are also those who have simply removed the spring and had zero issues with pedal play afterwards; myself being one of them. It is such an easy mod to perform, and so easy to reverse, or add a helper spring at a later time if truly needed, that I think you have little to lose by just trying it out and seeing for yourself before you go ordering a spring. It's not like the pedal is gonna fall off or something. Besides, even if you did have a tiny bit of free play, although it may be detectable to your fingers while you're down there looking right at it, that's still a far cry from being an issue for a (relatively) clubby and inarticulate large muscle appendage such as your left leg.
