My 07 kept me safe...

Kind of an old story, but i feel one worth sharing. Especially for those who wonder if these cars will hold up in a significant collision.

Jan 2011 my 07 was totaled as another driver turned left in front of me while i was traveling through 4 lane intersection (2 lanes each way with center turn lane). Other driver said they never saw me. Barely had time to react. Impact speed was appx 40-45mph. Was dazed for a couple mins...but after collecting myself, I got a rental and was at work an hr later. EMT's thought i was nuts. Impact area was my drivers side front corner (pics below). The car held up well for a front corner impact @ 40+mph. Hard to see...but the engine sat crooked and pushed back a few inches towards the firewall. Lol...started right up as it sat in the pics. This just solidified my decision to buy another 07+ G. These cars are very safe and well engineered...

Nice to know those great crash ratings for the G are no joke. Glad that you ended up OK after such an impact. Happy New Year and best of luck w/ your latest G

Thanks for the comments...aside from a few aches...i was ok. Needless to say the initial impact rocked me, as i was a bit wobbly. For a second i was hoping to wake up from a dream. I did manage to hit the brakes just before impact...the collision center said the brake lights were stuck on.

My current 08 has been nothing short of fantastic. After the experience...it's nice to know i'm well protected in a high impact collision (of course avoiding at all costs).

Happy New Year to you all as well!

Thanks! So far so good...

Air bag did deploy. I dont remeber having any pain/aches, marks, or bumps on my head...so i'm not sure what caused the small spider web on the windshield. Seat belt was on...although foolishly my waist strap may not have been snug enough (if i remeber correctly). I think I remember my body sliding forward a bit on impact. First responders and collision center figured it was from the air bag impact on the glass. Apparently i'm told the bags are pretty large in these cars (at least in the steering wheel). Wouldn't suprise me based on how hard/fast most bags deploy. But i'm not sure...either way...thankfully it all worked well, and gave me total protection.

Not surprising, the G has continued to do well on newer, more difficult crash tests despite being older and not having been designed specifically to pass the test.

wow! i'm amazed that the infiniti emblem on the engine cover stayed intact from that impact whereas mine mysteriously disappeared for no reason.

Glad your ok! I know one guy personally that crashed at 100+ and flipped his car and still lives. Bought another G35 after saving his life. I believe there was another guy on the forums that shared his story that crashed at high speed. These are truly amazing cars.
