cabin filter

When I recently changed my battery I could see the in-cabin filter through the firewall and it appeared to be dirty. While shopping online for a replacement I noticed there are several versions of the filter including a carbon filter with dark specks. Now I'm wondering if all I saw through the firewall were carbon specks and not dirt. Does anyone know if the OEM filter is a carbon filter?

I did mine a year or so ago. Isn't there a service date on the in-cabin filter? This time I bought it from the dealer. No, it doesn't answer your question. When was the last time you replaced it? How many kms/.miles inbetween?

i believe the OEM ones come in both carbon and non-carbon. the carbon ones are more expensive, i think.

I change mine yearly and it's always dirty. I stopped getting the expensive one and just get a simple $15 Autozone filter. Every year I change mine in the spring and it's filthy, so it does the job.

Me too, just an annual change and get my filters a couple at a time along w/ oil & air filters for a couple years worth of changes from www.rockauto.com you'll pay about 30% less from them then you would at PepBoys, OReillys, Autozone, etc.

Does anyone have a link to the procedure? When I click the link at this forum in the DIY/FAQ section I get "requested page cannot be found".

There is a label on the filter box indicating flow direction...at least on my '06.... I always forget which way it goes until I see it.
