Quote: According to the dealership that not the case. The tech at the dealer is stating that the LT VTC cam sprocket is bad. He recommending to replace both VTC cam sprockets, VTC covers, inner and outer timing chains, timing chain tentioner , inner timing cover, water pump and seals.also reprogram the computer.
Oh my god Can't be serious?

Quote: I would ask them to clearly articulate what is required for the fix vs. that which is simply recommended, as their obviously intending to have a field day with premature parts swapping there. I'm surprised they didn't mention the in-cabin air filter too.

Lol they did mention it. The cost to replace was $140.00. I will do it myself.

I would just replace the broken part and re-assemble. Timing chain stretch is a real thing, but I would wait another hundred thousand before wrestling with that.

welp, my G just met this fate earlier tonight. was taking a turn onto a main road from a dead stop and gave 'er a rip (she pulled strong as always), came to a stop to take a turn and it started running like crap with no throttle control and VDC light popped on. P0345 and running/starting like shi*. Looks like OP's problem turned out to be this: https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...ml#post6944112

Once I removed the outer timing cover today I got my answer to why the car was kicking a code for my intake cam sensor. The lt intake cam was sheered Off at the head. My guess is because the vtc cam sprocket locked up. The cam spun freely in the head so I removed the cam caps and they all look smooth.
pretty sure this is what happened to mine also as i do see the B2 intake cam stuck at 64 deg on the NDS monitor app. 277k on the clock, so she didn't owe me anything for a minute now. Trying to decide if I want to throw in a fresher drivetrain in 'er or get something different at this point.

another VQ35HR guy that snapped his intake cam: https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-drivetrain-and-forced-induction/293345-p0345-and-a-broken-camshaft.html

Hey, fly south to Miami and you can drive it home. It's chillin inside my AC garage alongside my 2015 XFR-S which i'm working on, that's why i'm trying to sell my G but around here, too many cheap people that won't spend money on good cars like mine.

Ha! Just ordered a low mileage JDM VQ and trans from a store in Orlando (JDM Tier 1 Engines). We'll see what condition it comes in. From the pics, it is looking very clean. From my preliminary research, some items will have to be swapped over from the old engine (harness, a/c and p/s, not sure on headers and mounts yet). Might start a thread on this, as i can't find much of any JDM HR info online. Trans code is 3EX2B, and looks like it's out of a Nissan Fuga that came with the HR.
