Question about how high you like to get your revs

This is probably a stupid question but I just wondered how high you guys will generally rev your car while going through the gears. Currently I don't really like to have mine go above 4-5k while accelerating normally as it just makes me feel like I'm gonna damage something when I probably won't. I also have no idea what would be considered high revs while using it for normal commutes

Usually shifting my 6mt no more than 3-4k depending on incline. Flat ground Im definitely shifting by 3000 rpm

4-5k RPMs "while accelerating normally" ? That's not going to hurt anything except your wallet (MPG has to suck if that's "normal" for you). For what it's worth, the automatic shifts between 2500-3000 RPM normally.

This is a manual, yes ? Unless you're in a hurry (all the time), that's just way too high to be practical for daily use.

I usually just ride out second and shift straight into 5th if I'm in town, it feels and sounds more natural to rev it out and skip gears as opposed to shifting though every gear going no higher than 2k like a grandma. I get 20 MPG driving like this.

On highway on-ramps, rev limiter

On the drive home yesterday, with normal traffic, only once was I able to get the RPMs up above 4000. In a manual it would be different because you can hold it in gear for as long as you want but the driving style, comfort, noise, etc will be pretty bad.

You can shift at any RPM you want including 1500, 2000, etc for example. Yeah, its boring but as long as the engine doesnt lug, its fine.

The owners manual has suggested shift points for reference too.

When traffic clears, every so often I step on it to about 40-50% throttle which makes the 5AT shift at around 5500-6000rpm. You will also see a surge in power at ~4200rpm as the cam changeover happens. I rarely press the accelerator more than halfway, and almost never to full, just feels un-natural to me driving an auto. I also use regular D mode 99% of the time but will be trying DS more on country roads.

'Normal' with the flow of traffic you should get a 3-4K shift point, more than that seems like an egregious use of power and you start to get strange looks..
