Thanks in advance for some help to first time poster. I have a low-mileage (~54k) 2008 G35 Journey in great shape. My job has changed and I plan to drive it extensively for the next several years. I’m looking for some advice on what others have done for aftermarket backup camera / sensor installation during recent years. With three little kids and a crowded neighborhood, this is just a feature I want to have now. Thanks!

Believe this is the Premium Package system.

With old iPod and Aux inputs in the center console.

I haven’t done anything. I have what I think was the “Premium Package” which doesn’t include Nav, but has a small display screen with Aux inputs as shown in the pics.

You’re correct, camera is my top priority.

Looks like it should work then. Im not sure if theres a way to make your screen automatically switch to video mode when u shift into reverse though. There might be a workaround??

But here is the camera itself:

I'm planning to do a backup camera install as well. I found this post about allowing video
to display when in motion. Need to cut a wire a switch on the parking brake lever.

I've been using a BOYO license plate backup camera for the past 10 years, which is wired into the aux video jack and is activated by aux button. I am sure there are better options available - including using a camera strip where it belongs and a camera that works there (with parking lines etc which mine does not have). Over 10+ years ago, I installed a parking sensor system similar to
this one this one
and it is very useful when parking and backing in to a tight driveway in combination with the camera. I have the display mounted on the steering wheel cowl, and painted over sensors (they do require a drilling out of the bumper to be installed) with the factory touch-up paint.

I have a Pyle camera with the screen built into the mirror. Works pretty well for me.

I found a crashed g35 at a junker and ripped off the chrome trim from the trunk

Paid the guy $50 and installed a factory OEM camera in an hour

Was the OEM camera plug and play? Did you have to splice and run additional wires like installing an aftermarket camera? D

You have to splice and run
I tapped into the reverse tail light
You'll have to do an E Brake bypass
