Troubleshooting: Installed wrong master window switch. Can it cause electrical issue?
I offered to fix a friend's G35X (2007). After installing, I noticed that the window up and down worked, but simply just stopped after I tried to program it (I held down for a few seconds). I also noticed that I was facing electrical issues. The dash lights were slightly pulsing. After a while, the battery was almost drained.
When troubleshooting, I noticed that the replacement was an aftermarket 25401 JK40D instead of 25401 JK40A that came in the car. I later saw the listing state it doesn't fit the G35X. The pin layouts are identical and the window switches did work initially. In my life, I have never seen a car's electricals fails from an non-critical system like windows. Is it possible that the wrong model window switch could have messed with electricals? Or was it likely some other issue that happened coincidentally?
I compared the parts online. While the parts site does say they are not identical, they are replaced by the same part (25401-JK42E)
Left is original. Right is replacement. Identical pins.
