It’s also possible that the frame that holds them got bent when the door got pressed in too hard. You might first check to see if they are bent. If so, try to bend them back into position, but don’t lever on the fuel door; use needle nose pliers or similar to grab and bend. Don’t use a screwdriver against the fuel door.
