It's hard to top a BMW, even if it's not the fastest kid on the block.

Now that I've seen the new generation, it's a no brainer for me to go back to BMW. I just can't stand it! maybe I'm just infatuated with the upcoming M3 that anything else seems too inferior.
I'm not understanding you. When you say "far superior inside and out" are you talking aesthetics or actual mechanical/build quality? I only ask because as much as I *would* agree with you on the aesthetics thing, I would completely disagree with you on the build quality thing. Dollar for dollar I think BMW's look better inside and out (except maybe for the G35 coupe exterior, which is still one of the best looking cars on the road), but in terms of fitment, reliability and mechanical precision, none of my BMW's have come close to either of my Infiniti's.

Just my 0.02c.

BMW is not as reliable as a Infiniti, they are german and are prone to Electrical Problems

If you like the European lay out... it is hard to convince because the G really doesn't offer anything similar. But it sure looks high tech inside. It matches at least the IS and RL, or TL in terms of design. I need to feel the materials and press the BUTTONS to see if it is better.

Now I haven't seen the 07 in person so I can't compare, but I agree the old G doesn't have the SOLID feel of BMWs. By SOLID, I mean build quality so that there are minimal road noise and no rattles. This is very easy to notice if you have driven both. But in terms of reliability, my G is still more reliable than my gf's 325i.

IMO, E90's interior MATERIALS are definitely not as good as E46's. And the E92 coupe looks like a CLK wannabe... yuck... BMWs are supposed to look BOLD and AGRESSIVE. So... the best possible choice (for me) in the near future will be the 07 G.. (can't stand IS's painted plastic that looks only SLIGHTLY better than the 03 Gs, and the rear is just too small)

Audi, yes. I've yet to hear of BMW electrical problems.

That's exactly what I was saying, just in a more long winded manner.

Having had both, with my small sample, the Infiniti was more reliable. My BMW did have some electrical problems, as well as other items. It was nicer materials and handling though...

I've had small electrical gremlins in both our BMWs. Nothing major mind you - just little things that needed to be repaired under warranty (and probably would have cost way too much out of warranty). Radio stopped working, alarm was acting up, passenger side window wouldn't go down, etc...

To be far I did have one warranty issue in my G sedan - my fuel regulator died and was replaced under warranty.

All brands will have issues of some sort.
Problems are so much more acceptable if you get the proper suport from the dealer.

To me reliability means 2 things....
- Is it going to start every day
- Is it going to get me back home (not stranded on the hwy)

What Bimmers are we talking about? from what I've heard the 5 and more so the 7 series are more problematic. My bro has an '01 330i and my folks have a 97' 740iL and neither has given major problems. the 3 series is supposedly pretty reliable. Now as for the other German cars I'd have to agree, that's where the Japanese seem to excel.

I absolutely love the look of the 07 Sedan. I love the dual exhaust, and the styling cues from the M. IMO, the M is the nicest looking car in it's class...so for the new G to have some of the M's cues...that's no problem with me at all. Also, the interior looks awesome. To be honest, I had NO issues with the previous interior, but this new interior is sweet. I am really looking forward to seeing it in person and also in different colors. And of course, I cant wait to hear the exhaust note as well.

Shane, you and me both on the interior and the M! Don't let RLampke know you had no issues with the previous, he'll think you're a friend of mine.

'07 G35 Sedan looks like a nice Lexus LS

The 2007 G35 is a a huge yawn. It looks like the car my grandfather would drive. The squared off front end, the grille, etc. looks like a Lexus LS sedan. At $15-20K lesser cost, the '07 may appeal to people who are Lexus-owner wannabees. The wheels are truely awesome, however.

When will the Japanese car manufatcturers learn to stop copying the competition and dare to be original?
