VDC problem...or maybe I'm paranoid
I'm mostly a lurker and don't ask too many questions as almost everything I've ever wanted to know has been answered already but I think I'm finally having a problem.
The Car:
05 6mt sedan 34k that I bought with 29k.
The Problem:
I feel like since I bought the car in June, the VDC has been very sensitive. The slightest hint of wheelspin causes the usual power loss and flashing light. No big deal, didn't bother me. For the past few days it has been rainy and It seems like out of nowhere, I can spin on command. I'm not even talking 4000rpm clutch drops, I mean easy shift into 2nd, then hit it and at around 3500 the traction breaks and no VDC. The fact that the wheels spin doesn't bother me. I can easily prevent it by just driving smart but I could swear that as of a few weeks ago the VDC was extremely sensitive and would kick in the second traction is lost.
I can get the VDC to come on but it just seems much harder. I just want to hear how other people's cars behave before I make the hike to the dealership.
Any input is appreciated.

My problem isn't the wheels spinning, I can keep it from spinning. My problem is that I feel like the VDC went from super-sensitive to almost never coming on. It was icy this morning so i did some "experimenting" (straight line, oversteer, understeer etc) and it just doesn't seem to be coming on like it used to.
I was just curious what your experiences were with VDC. In your cars, does the slip light come on at the slightest bit of traction loss? I will check the brake fluid though.

Kevin - I have experienced the exact same thing in my 05 6mt. Most of the time it is very sensitive but once in a while (pretty rare) it seems like it fell asleep. Maybe the vdc misjudged how aggressive to be - I don't know. If it happens a lot, I would get a dealer to check all the sensors.

It's very normal. The nanny is very quick to react if just one wheel spins and fairly quick to react if both wheels spin. Last night I was driving home (about 30 degrees outside) and had my auto in 2nd at 4000rpms and punched it. The car took off like normal then quickly cut power. I looked down and saw the slip light flash at me. One tire must have hit some dirt or sand the second I punch the throttle. If there was truely a problem with the VDC, you're ECU would shoot a code. If there's no code, there's a 99.9523% chance your dealer will say "couldn't replicate the problem".
