Exclamation Touchy AC

Hey guys, I've been having an issue with my AC recently. When i turn it on, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. If it doesnt work and i leave it on, it sometimes comes on eventually at some random point. Any ideas o how i can fix this?

Could be the electronics within the controller. This is a known issue as long as you have ensured you have freon, no leaks and your system is 100% perfect. The Radio and AC controls go bad over time and you can swap out the unit for aftermarket or get it re-soldered.

Take it to a shop for a general AC checkup and let the professionals handle it. To check the level of refrigerant. You will have to remove all refrigerant and the machine will tell you how much it took out. Then you manually put back in the correct amount. Basic math will tell you how much was removed and how much was added to calculate the difference.

I would have a general AC check up to make sure all AC function perform correctly such as compressor, pressure switches, condenser, receiver drier and no leaks in the lines or system. Tell the shop the issue and let them know the AC/Radio head unit is known to go bad and will stop the AC for turning on/off or changing the settings.

so if it ends up being caused by the head unit, would replacing it with an aftermarket one fix the problem?

Yes because aftermarket means you have to buy a dash kit which comes with a new controller. You can pickup an aftermarket dashkit with controller or OEM. I would recommend the OEM on if you plan to keep the car for a long time and want to sell it in OEM form.

Does the car register your hitting the buttons for fan speed and everything else? If so, does it seem like fans kick on after car is running for awhile?

This is a fan relay switch problem, I just had the same thing! Just look it up, you can actually buy the relay online or at auto shops for pretty cheap and just change them out trust me on this

it's very easy takes like 10 mins if you know how to pull your panel off by your kickplate next to pedals

Also if you just go to nearest auto store they can look up the part and most likely have it as it is a common part for cars
