Manual mode

Hey guys I just created my account and was seeing if anyone can help me, I’ve had this problem with manual mode since I first bought the car, basically the car will not go in manual mode it will just show D. Now there’s a few things that I have did that made it work intermediattly, such as starting the car and instantly throwing it into manual mode that will make it work sometimes but other times it will still just show d, and rarely if manual mode is working sometimes while I’m driving it will just throw me back into D, I’ve heard of people saying different things it could be such as transmission shifter, then I heard it could be the tcm, heard it could be the valve body, and lastly people saying it could be the gauge cluster, so far, I replaced the shifter assembly with one from eBay and it worked flawlessly for the whole day, like I could drive in d and whenever I would try to put it in manual mode it would work then randomly that night it started acting up again, Also sometimes when I’m in manual mode I’ll go over to D and it will even freeze like still show I’m in manual mode for a few seconds before registering, and usually that means when I try to out it back to mnaual mode it won’t work and will stay in DI’ve also tried replacing the gauge cluster with one I found at a junkyard and tried that out, soon as I I did instantly didn’t work so I’m lost on what I should do, either I used a bad gauge cluster? Or I used a bad shifter assembly? Or it’s something different, if anyone has had this problem or know anything please lmk (fyi my fuel gauge is off, sometimes it will just show full when Ik it’s not and then randomly start going down or vice versa, and also when I turn on cruise control and that green “set” button sometimes it looks really faded or just won’t show at all even tho it’s working, also forget to add randomly when I’m driving the break light and battery light will show up very faint, and usually just tapping the ebrake will make it go away weird.” thank you.

If its not the shifter assembly, then its the cluster.

Looks like your shifter assembly works fine though. Its the cluster then. Theres a bunch of threads on this topic if u search for it.

Even if the cluster isn't causing your manual mode problems, it sounds like you have issues in there that need fixing. I drove around with that bad fuel gauge problem for a long time before opening mine up to fix it. I vote for the cluster being responsible for most of the manual mode problems. I think the shifter micro switches would be 2nd. I don't recall seeing confirmed cases of the TCM or valve body being responsible for this function not working.

Valve body definite no, TCM gets the MM signal from the instrument cluster. Since the TCM can shift to all gears at the moment I'd say TCM no as well.
