I have a similar issue with my G. I burn oil more frequently after the installation of Kinetix test pipes. I know the oil is low because:

1) The oil pressure light appears during hard breaking
2) I’ll hear a knocking sound when I apply the gas

I add 1/2 quart of oil and the knocking/oil pressure light disappears. This concerns me because I was to add a Vortech to the mix. I hope infinity comes out with a solution soon.

Would an oil pressure gauge help me to monitor the amount of oil in the motor?
What's the typical amount of oil pressure for our motors?

Regardless of the gauges you get, I think I would monitor your oil useage a little more closely.

I think I would also fill to oil to the "Full" mark on the dipstick instead of just adding a half quart all the time.

Taking them off isn't going to make the problem go away. My car is still burning oil and I am still waiting for infiniti to do something. If I hadn't put them on I would have never noticed the issue and probably toasted a motor. I have been saying all along it is an oil control ring problem. We will see what they do.

I would love to check my oil but the dipstick doesnt work that great. I can't get an accurate reading it. It seems other have had issues with the dipstick as well.

No question is noob, well most aren't. I don't mind helping out, but if you typed test pipes in google you would get some answers. Searching this forum helps as well.

Test pipes replace the factory catalytic converters. This results in a better flowing exhaust system and usually increases hp. The amount of doors on your G has doesn't matter. Both two door and four door G35's have catalytic converters.

There are two types of test pipes 1) Resonated and 2) non-Resonated. Non-resonated test pipes sound raspier and usually cost less. Resonated test pipes deepen the exhaust tone without the rasp. Click the link below for more information.

Thanks for the help. I used four non-foulers. I boared out the first set and screwed them into the second set. I dropped the O2 sensor into the non-foulers and wala. My SES light doesn't come on anymore. I would join in on your group buy for the vortech but I want the tuner kit.

Thanks again.

I've got you listed for the tuner kit. Once we hit the 10 minumum on the full kits, Tuner kits are available as well.
