Borla w/ resonated X pipe = sex. Not sure what it would rate on geezerhips' radar though. There is some drone still but it has to be one of the most quiet duals.

I have a love hate relationship with my cpe m.p. + HKS. I really love the sound when driven hard, but when putting around, it's getting old. Ever since I got the Z06 5 months ago, I've wanted to make the G quieter.

Thinking of putting the stock muffler back on with these ractive tips that are simply bolt on, while leaving the cpe midpipe on. You won't see the bolts unless you get under the car; but with the fatboys you will see the cut inner metal guts. (kept my stock muffler, middie, wheels in storage etc--yeah)

Or, I might just put the stock midpipe back on and leave the HKS on. It will be quieter, but I'd like to sell the HKS if possible so someone else here can enjoy the sound on their G.
Decided to order the altima tips. HKS will be available soon.

I was about to pull the trigger on the Altima tips as well, then I took a closer look at my stockers. They already protrude out from under the bumper (my car's an 05) a decent amount so I'm afraid the Altima tips will be too long.

decisions, decisions.....

Yes, decisions on the 05. On the 03-04, it's a no brainer b/c the stock tips are so fawking pathetic it's not even funny.

finished the mod today. Everything went well and they grab on strongly to the stock pipes. I did it off the car, so next I have to swap out mufflers. It would be nice to put some JBweld, but I don't think it needs it.

You'll be in absolute heaven with setup. No drone, muscular and robust sound, no nasty noises. I wish I could hear it on a 6MT.

Hi I'm new here. I read somewhere in this post earlier that the 03-04 sedans have different tips from 05-06 sedans. Is that true or am I just making that up?

I took a look at the tips and they're a little less than half an inch apart, so I'm not sure if this mod would fit. Has anyone tried them on an 06 mt sedan?

Did anyone also try using the 3.5L tips instead of the 2.5L tips and find that they work better? The pictures of the 3.5L and 2.5L tips look different on the infinitipartsusa.com website.

^ Im with him, I dont know about the 03-04 but my 05 has a bracket under the pipe that the tips slide into. It looked like maybe the 03-04s have this as well, if thats the case, do the Altima tips just slide right over this bracket? Seems like the fitment would be pretty squirrely.

The tips are fat enough that the brackets fit inside with no problem... read DaveB's original write up on this mod.. he mentions this in the DIY.

"4) Remove the OEM tips. There is no need to remove welded mounting bracket on the muffler pipes. The Altima tips are large enough to slide over this bracket."

Thank you sir.

I just got off the phone with Trophy Nissan here in DFW $40.00 each for the Altima tips, he says people paying less are getting an internet discount. The guy also said that he has had a few people come get these tips for the G sedans, and mentioned the Maxima tips as an option. I am going out there shortly to take a look. Anyone considered Maxima tips? He didnt mention what year im assuming 07-08 and newer.
