Look into a MotorDyne plenum spacer. I believe that lots of people here have reported real world increases. I have the 1/2" but the 5/16" is the best performance gain. He even have dynos on his website, plus he is an active member here and there are several DIY articles and tons of threads to help you out.

People are a little sensitive on this forum. A lot of members say that if you try to save even a little amount of money then you shouldn't have a G but should have a Civic. Apparently if you own a G you should pay top dollar for everything and have unlimited money to throw away unnecessarily.

The trim is blacked out with Trim Brite black out tape. I'm not willing to take the trim off and paint it because there is a huge risk is breaking/bending the trim place getting paint to stick to chrome, even after sanding, is a royal pain. Soon I'm going to order some vinyl tape from 3M which is a little wider to get better coverage on the passenger door pillar, rear portion. I'll post up details in a DIY. As for your door handles, you might have to leave them chrome or maybe 3M makes a vinyl that's close enough.

Yeah well that is why I got the GT-R - arrives in two weeks.

Yeah I know about the plenum spacer. Might do it soon. I'd like to add about 50-75hp without going with a blower or turbo. I doubt it is possible.

I also would like to improve the handling w/o only a small sacrifice to the ride and would like to not lower the car very much at all. I think i was told to go for the coupe springs.

and over cousre i don't want to spend too much

Could the 05-06 rear section be fitted to the 03-04 for the same look? Perhaps even do both if you want the tips to stick out further. I have the Nismo lip and from some angles it looks like I have no muffler.

I'm pretty sure the 05/06 muffler can be fitted and will push the OEM tips out further. The downside is:

1) The muffler will make your exhaust quieter because the can is a quite bigger
2) You'll need to buy an additional bracket to make the muffler work
3) You'll have to spend $80+ to get a used muffler plus the shipping.

IMO, the Altima tips would be the way to go. The size of the tips and the flush fitment to the muffler can looks entirely OEM and subtley aggressive.

thanks, sounds like it's hardly worth it over just the tips alone. I just hate the fact that the tips are so far tucked in under the nismo rear.

Hey Dave, how much of an effect do tips have on the exhaust note?

I'm considering doing the ttrank relocate/dual exit route, and I'm trying to decide on mufflers and tips.

The tips will not make a difference. What you're worried about are the mufflers inlet and outlet diameters, as well as the mufflers actual design.

That's what I figured. I've got an idea on what I want to run, but I can't decide if it's complete rice or not.

Since the tips aren't resonated, they won't influence sound.

I haven'y exactly demo'd mufflers yet; that's kind of hard to do. I personally like the look of the cylindrical canisters, but I'm afraid they'll be way too ricey on the car. I like the way ttrank's came out, but I don't know if I want a muffler like that.

As for the tips, I can't decide if I want 3.5, 4.0, or 4.5 inch. The stock size for an 04 coupe appears to be 3.5, and it looks great, but I think it might look a little better at 4 inches. Won't really know until I put them up to the car.

Sorry Dave, I wasn't speaking of these tips in particular, really tips in general. But thanks for the info.

Hey Dave,

Just wanted to check with you to see how these Fat Boys are holding up.. any need to tack weld these monsters to the muffler at all.. or are they "holding on" on their own? i keep seeing these giants on Nissan's on my commute to work... i think they would really finish off the OEM system I just completed, quite well... the stock tips are almost non-existent when you 're up close to the rear of the car.. ya almost have to step back to see them.. where's the joy in THAT!?!

Any ways.. thought I'd drop a line to see how they been behavin' for ya on the day to day life of a G35 sedan!!
