Neighbour has a 3.5 altima. i ordered the 2.5 ones, when i got them we looked and they were identical. at least thats here in Canada anyway. i cant speak for what the USDM one has. at any rate IMO your better off with the 2.5 tips and cut em like Dave said. mine worked awesome! while you have em off id spray the exhaust "can" with a semi gloss engine enamel in black, MADE A HUGE difference in the look.

I Just Picked My 2.5 Tips The Pn Is 20080-ja000. While I Was Leaving I Looked At New Cars With 2.5 And 3.5. The 3.5 Inner Pipe, The One We Cut, Is Obvioulsy Bigger. I Didnt Measure It, But I Think It Could Be The One We Need.

I'd just stick with the 2.5 tips because I know for a fact that they work with 5 minutes of simple modification. The 3.5 tips may not give the same tight fit and may require a bit more modification.

Just to clear up any confusion that might have been floating around, the tips for the 2.5 and 3.5 are not the same. I received my 3.5 tips today. The outside diameter is the same, but the inlet diameter is definately bigger. See picture below.

Even though the 3.5 inlet is bigger, it still doesn't fit on the muffler outlet without cutting!! I tried to do just a few cuts, but it still didn't fit. So I ended up making all six cuts like the OP. It fit okay, but I added a little JB Weld to make sure it doesn't come off by accident.

^that's good info to know I brought a pair and haven't seen if they are the 2.5 or 3.5 looks like the 3.5 would be a better pick though...

So I bought these and did this over the weekend. I did a few things different though. I cut out the ENTIRE inside of the pipe and welding them on. Also, instead of them sitting flush with the muffler, they sit straight out. If they are flush, they will point up a little bit.

Difference...

Thank You

Dave,

Thanks for posting up about this option. I recently lowered my car and squashed my old tips backing down a driveway. I ordered these, they were cheap, they fit, and they look nice.

Anyone willing to buy the tips and fit them so I can just put them directly on? I am willing to pay.

It is way too easy. Order the tips online. Use a dremel to cut out the solid part. Remove your old tips. Slide on new tips. You should be able to stop there. Even if you have to buy a dremel it would still be worth it.

I myself am going to get them situated just right and then use some JB Weld to really fix them in place.

Isn't this one of those mods you'd see in the 80s on Sentras?
