My 03.5 G35 sedan is completely stock. I dont know if I need an entire new exhaust system or if I can add something minor or make a small adjustment to have the exhaust note much less assuming.

Thoughts?
You'll get engine noise more than exhaust, unless you have an exhaust leak. More sound deadening seems to be in order

Yep, consider a 05/06 sedan muffler as it has bigger muffler can. You'll be able to find used mufflers dirt cheap on this site, but you'll also need the 05/06 exhaust hanger which costs $45 new.

Get some of these, they are only $0.11

If I was old, I would find a stock sedan mid-pipe for sale on the forum and cut out the resonator. Then I'll go to a muffler shop so they install it to current mid-pipe, so you would have 2 stock resonator's inline of each other. If that don't work, than I guess the bigger 05/06 muffler.

+1 on the 05/06 muffler. The stock resonator on the early sedans are so big I don't think two would fit under the car. Also, like Mike@RiversideInfiniti said you might just be hearing engine noise. If you trader your stock intake tube for a Z-tube, go back to stock. If all that doesn't help, try this: https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...adening-g.html

Every time someone tries to make a VQ35 quieter, God kills a kitten.

Nope, not engine noise. It's the muffler.

Not quieting the engine. Quieting the muffler. FYI- they are on opposite sides of the car.

get a 05 or 06 stock muffler which is bigger than the 03 and 04's. This may quiet it down some more.
