I tried both - if I shift right at 7200 I can get through in 3rd... 101+ was in 3rd.

After the current project it wont be an issue at all... I'll have plenty of rmp to make in through in 3rd.

A 3.5 gear simply isn't the right gear for a VQ35DE 5AT in the 1/4 mile with stock height tires, stock TC, and a stock redline. Shifting into an undergeared 4th about 100 to 200 feet short of the finish line isn't ideal. The 3.7 may be a better choice because it has more torque multiplication and the other gears are shorter.
I do have a modified tq converter, VB and raised rev limit. I used to be FI. I think I'm losing up top because I was tuned on 91oct. I shouldn't be neck and neck with a untuned 5AT 350z with just a intake and exhaust.

I've ran almost the same times he did with just a stillen intake, exhaust and ts reflash 4yrs ago.

I'm having my osiris maps looked at the moment by Shawn to see what can be adjusted.

I was thinking maybe I have too much of a free flowing exhaust for N/A. I have 2.5 test pipes into the MD xyz pipe and resonator which is 3in all the way to the VQ muffler. I could be wrong not enough back pressure maybe?

Well anyway I think the 06 airbox is perfect for any 5at trying to get the most out of their set-up for less than $100.

Mike your rev limit is 7200 mine is 7100 I think. Maybe I should raise mine to 7200rpm I think I shifted at 6800 going into fourth.

I have to get used to shifting at redline again I couldn't do that when I was turbo especially with the stillen VB.

Did they tell you what rpm you take your car up to after your upgrade yet?

yeah, I'm at 7200... I plan to take it to 7500, thats why
I'm doing revup rod bolts and oil pump and JWT valve springs... I don’t think JWT or TS are supper encouraging about 7500 but they know it only on occasion for very brief moments, and they didn’t say no - so with what I'm doing I don’t think there will be problems (I hope)... I wouldn’t run on a road course for long periods maxed out though

can't wait to see your results. Did you take any pics of your car under the knife?

This time you may spin the tires lauching like I did when we raced and leave a long mark in front of Shawn's shop like I did.

there are some pics in the Crawford Header weld thread... I have others - I'll post everything including pre & post dyno with sound, pics of car during install and final dyno results with impressions... that will all be when everything is finished... and when I have time to compile everything and do a write up.

I just put the 06 MT airbox in the car this weekend and removed the JWT Pop-charger. Previous to that, I had the 03 OEM airbox. I don't have numbers to prove the difference but low end response is better with the 06 box vs JWT. I also went back to the OEM paper element filter. I'm holding on to one of two K&N panel filters for now but I like the paper and 06 MT airbox already.

I like the paper filter also, I'm just planning on changing it out every other oil change with a new one, so flow stays good. i feel like they are relatively cheap, and provide better filtering than the K&N, which I've been using on various cars since 97

That was my thought as well. Getting the OEM paper element for $11 and some change is the better option for me. Like you, I'll change it out every 10K miles or 6 months. I had two K&N panels so I'll hold on to one for now and sell the other.

After FINALLY putting on my crawford V5, the throttle response and overall gains are great!

I plan on putting in the stock 03 intake box on and see how that compares to the stillen I have now.

Hopefully, I'll have another custom type v-stack to report on later. But I want to drive around with the oem box for a while to see if it helps the low end.
