Tony,

Can you elaborate on this? Are you referring to the price of your new test pipes not costing much?

What's easy and doesn't cost much? Any suggestions to get rid of the droning will help, lol.

This is in addition to the test pipes and cats. I will post the pictures when ready.

The 5ATs are notorious for droning unfortunately. I had drone up to 3k with the Fast Intentions intimidator exhaust and the Greddy evoTT. The shockwave TDX is less, but still very much present. It sounds great from the outside as others have noted. With the intimidator exhaust, I did not have turbos and it was much worse (with 2.5" HFC). With the turbos (and 3.5" test pipes), it got better, but it's still there.

I think there will be a big 5AT market for the quiet VQ exhaust.

It sucks to hear that the droning problem is because we have 5ATs. If there's nothing else that can be done to fix it, except buying a 6MT G35 (lol), I'll have to start looking for another exhaust system. I was happy with the way my HR y-pipe/F.I. HFC combo sounded, but I wanted the performance gains of this exhaust.... I think the VQ system is too quiet for me .

I still have hopes that Tony will figure something out to help with the droning though, so I'll wait. I still love the way it sounds (from the outside) .

^That's exactly what I am working on.
Same sound on the outside but no drone on the inside.

Tony, is the project you are working on to reduce the droning only for 5AT? I have a 6MT.

Sounds good Tony. Let me know if in car sound clips or RTA video clip would be helpful (easy with the carPC in there)...

Well I haven't found a performance exhaust that has fared any better with my 5AT (evoTT was not bad; only slightly quieter w/ a bit more deeper drone compared to Shockwave TDX). I'll keep my fingers crossed on Tony's add-on part... Of course, I'm happy to jump to the VQ TDX when it's ready too.

You know, I've been wanting to do that too but with the RTA, it can only take a screen shot at one moment in time (or at one RPM). So I've been looking into other types of acoustic analyzers that can generate a waterfall plot or Fast Fourier Transform (FFT).

If I can plot a frequency response Vs time (or RPM) that would be really advantageous. 3D Vs 2D

There are a couple of programs out there that can do it but I need to find out if they are capable of plotting a time axis out to 5-10 seconds.

Most of the FFT acoustic analyzers work in units of milliseconds.

I need to call the software designers to find out if they can do this.

Talking

Here another video clip of the Motordyne Gamma Dual to add to the collection. This was a Mustang Dyno tune done a couple week back. My set up is Strup headers OEM CATs and Gamma Dual. This exhaust is pretty agressive sounding... By the way the G is auto.

Check this link out.
