Well I don't care about thecoupes or automatic sedans. I have a 6mt sedan. So why would they only put it in a coupe and not a sedan?

05-07 manual coupes have the rev up engine. What about the sedan? I'm really not sure.

I think I read somewhere that maybe not all Rev-Up engines came with the "rev-up airbox" with the larger velocity stack. I could be wrong, though.

I've yet to see a dyno showing any evidence, but some owners believe it may increase power slightly. Some also think it increases throttle response and changes the sound slightly. The engineers must have had a reason for putting it on the revup engines. Maybe it makes power, or maybe it just allows the MAF to get more accurate readings. I think the most interesting part is that the engineers chose not to put it on the non-revup models. It seems like it would save money to have just one part number for a given model year, unless that part was not beneficial for all engines.

my 240sx stock airbox looks like the inside of the 06 rev-up version, it has a big velocity stack like that haha.

The old maxima ones depending on the year, were actually taller than the rev ups. But had a diff bolt pattern.

i agree, they put it there for some reason. if you notice there is difference in performance between the 03/04 and the 05/06. i know there is more changed than the airbox but I think it was there to give a more direct flow to the maf and through the intake

From what I've read, and the fluid dynamics (is that the right word? lol) it makes it flow better. Imagine you're on a highway and it makes a sharp turn. The traffic would bunch up at that turn. But if you make it a bigger curve, then the traffic (in this case air) would be able to travel more smoothly and faster.

Bigger velocity stack = bigger curve

im new to modding but this will be one of the firsts. i plan on getting the z-tube k&n and a rev-up airbox on my 05 AT. well see how it goes but it sounds like the best bang for the buck and a good sound from the intake with some added hp
