If it's the same height and looks the same, I wouldn't worry about the color...

its just the zinc coating, which can vary from silver to gold to rainbow-ish depending on the coating thickness, which varies with each batch

Is the inner diameter of the z-tube actually bigger than the g-tube? Or it just mainly for sound?

Same ID. The Z tube doesn't have the resonator that the G tube has, which allows the induction of less turbulent air.

What is the dimension of the opening of the velocity stack? Not the bell end but maf end. 2.75"??

I have the velocity stack in my 05 6MT. Not sure of the opening though, looks to be about 1.5" though.
