Can't find any info on it, when installing it does it have a place for the intake sensor? or do you have to modify it to work?

I found a used one for $60 Canadian, does that seem like too much? To me it does since it's just a pipe....right?

Your sensor goes ahead of it. I will look up a couple pics for you.

 

By "intake sensor" do you mean the Mass Airflow Sensor? If so, it's not part of the Z-Tube. It's part of the housing that comes out of the back of the airbox. $60 Canadian is what, about $45-$48 US? That's a pretty good price. Used doesn't really matter, it's just a piece of sturdy plastic.

And the stock tube is also "just a pipe", but it has baffles in it to reduce air intake noise. It does a good job of it, but that also restricts the intake a little bit. The Z-Tube doesn't have the baffles, so you get better airflow, which means a little boost in both power and intake sound. But most people, especially here, think it's a nice new intake sound.

Get it. It's a pretty standard mod.

Yea I've seen both the intake just wasn't fully sure about the sensors.

For the filter portion what would be the best bet (that doesn't include a pipe) I have a K&N from my old car and could just drop that in, but it wouldn't have a heat sheild and would be sucking hot air.

The stock airbox is pretty efficient, and isn't really sucking hot air. Lots of people have the Z-Tube/K&N combo and it works pretty much as well as anything else short of FI. You'd be better off saving the money on the JWT and spending it on a plenum spacer. The spacer not only "unrestricts" the plenum, it has a lower gasket that really helps reduce any heat soak. My plenum is only slightly warmer than the ambient temps after driving it. The gasket does a nice job.

 

The G stock intake is well designed and very open. Also it take air for outside the hood. I don't see much benefit from an aftermarket intake. Pop in a K&N and save the bucks for other mods.

 

Yea I think I am just going to clean my K&N and oil it up then put it in the stock air box.

PM the guys at Riverside Infiniti (Tony or Rick). They'll hook you up with a good price on an MD spacer. I would recommend getting the Copper ISO upgrade since you live in snow country (like me). I got mine shipped for $240US (spacer and ISO upgrade). Your shipping will be a little higher.

And look around for a good grouding kit, 8-10 wires, not some over-priced 5 wire setup. I got mine from a regular over at NICOClub.com named SentientByDesign. Really good quality, 4 guage wire, Copper connectors, excellent installation instructions.

I am not sure I am going to go with the iso version, I just want the quick and easy 5/16" everythingg35.com has the spacer for 199 plus shipping and they also have a few other things I need at the moment. likes clear corners and what ever else I might want ahha, But I will keep riverside in mind.

I pick the car up tomorrow at 3, I don't even own the car and I am already filling a shopping cart. I'll have the stock photos up tomorrow, but it should be lowered by the end of next week and have the Z-tube and what not done as well.

I'm from Cambridge(5 Minutes from Kitchener) not to far from London or Chatham.

Oh by the way, I am still unsure if I am going to drive my G in the winter. I hate RWD with snow, I might just pick up an old school pathfinder or QX4. Probably mod the **** outta that too!

 

If you're not driving it in the winter, then skip the ISO. You can always add it later. And Grouding Gear makes good stuff, plus you gotta support your fellow Leafer. Everything G35 is good to work with too, I got my Z-Tube from them. Riverside just had a better deal at the time. Enjoy the car, and good luck with your installs.
