really? you lose power for 600 of the 7000rpm range; a range that is never really used, and its negated by the torque multiplication given in 1st gear that you would even use that 600 rpm range of lost power in. you make gobs of power everywhere in the usable power range.

I've had the Art Pipes on my car about a month now. Installation was a breeze...have a friend who primarily works on G35/350/370Z cars so he's very adept at this. Took him 45 minutes start to finish (we timed it), its knowing the proper length extensions needed and having a lift. Plus my car is a Texas car since new so no rust issues.

Behind the Art Pipe I have a Circuit Werks resonated y-pipe and a Tanabe Medallion exhaust. Cold start is pretty deep, moderately loud, hot starts are actually pretty quiet. Tone is deep at idle, part throttle acceleration and at rpm's below or above 2500 rpm. 2400-2600 seems to be the drone range of this set up. And with a 6 speed, 70 mph is 2500. Most of the freeways in the Dallas area are 65-70 with some express lanes at 75 mph. So my solution is to drive 5 over in a 70. Seems like around here cops don't give you a second glance unless you are 15-20 over. Only other solution would be to add a larger resonator to the exhaust or swap out the muffler...which would be a shame since other than that narrow range, part throttle is acceptably quiet. Plus it sound really mean when I get on it. Only other issue I've had is a rattle at nearly full throttle in 1st and 2nd. Everything seems tight, could be something in the exhaust is contacting the underside of the car briefly...possibly an engine or transmission mount has enough play in it to allow contact. Haven't really been able to get under it and really check.

The gains are noticeably over the stock cats. The lower rpm torque bump is nice but from 3500 and up, the improvements there are pretty obvious too. And the sound is intoxicating when you get on it.

Hard to hold my phone to make a video and shift...I'll try to get a cold start and rev though when I can.

It's been 5 years since I got my Art Pipes. They've held up very well, zero issues with welds or the resonators. No CEL either. Y-pipe is the same but now have a Megan exhaust (full 3" vs 2.75" for the Tanabe), minimal drone at 2500 rpm but less than with the Tanabe exhaust. May swap out the Megan resonator for a Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator. It really helped with the Tanabe. BTW, the "ultra quiet" refers to drone, not overall exhaust volume.
