Kinetix Y-Pipe

Is anyone who is contemplating getting a y-pipe that matches perfectly up to the stock mid-pipe looking at this thing? i don't feel the need to upgrade my entire exhaust - i've already got a blitz nur-spec rear section with a modified (magnaflow) mid-pipe, and just want to increase airflow without the collector adapters and stuff.

Re: Kinetix Y-Pipe

yes, i am. i'm interested in this y-pipe as well. if you are too, there's a group buy on my350z.com right now and good until the end of the 1st of october, but u need to be a member on there i think. it's 300 shipped to your door. i'm planning on getting one through there

also, if ur looking into any other pipes that match up to the stock midpipe and cats, try NFC motorsports' y-pipe for the 350z. it's $295 i believe. the website is NFCMotorsports.com.

Re: Kinetix Y-Pipe

matters, thanks for the scoop on the group buy. i' haven't been looking at 350z site, i find myself spending more money when i see what those guys do. i've looked at the nfc - not a bad pipe. kinetix seems to dish out fairly decent quality - not top of the line, but definitely not a bottom feeder either. i've been happy with their plenum. i haven't heard anything bad about their cats, just that they aren't as free flowing as rt or crawford, but i also haven't heard of any reliability issues either. so i figure i should have less issues if kinetix bolts up to kinetix.

Re: Kinetix Y-Pipe

I'm interested in this y pipe because I want to keep the stock *** end of the exhaust.

Regarding cats, jasperg, I just installed the crawfords and am very happy with them. I think the quality of them looked very good. I personally wouldn't worry as much with mating one manufacturer to another when you're dealing with the same sized pipes. I've looked at the clearance from the heat shields and there seems plenty of room where rubbing won't be an issue. So far under hard driving, there hasn't been any issues.

here's the webpage for the group buy on My350z.com. the price was 330 plus shipping. but they decreased the price to 300 shipped later in the post.

winw - thanks for the scoop on the cats, i don't want to hijack my own post, but crawford is the only other company i haven't heard bad things about regarding cats. a few extra dollars might go farther.

back to y-pipes - as far as quality, nfc or kinetix?

Re: Kinetix Y-Pipe

please, whatever you do, make sure you get a y-pipe that has the flex joints - without them, you are running a serious risk of cracking welds and even worse... my Greddy exhaust's y-pipe only has one flex joint and my exhaust in a quite a bind because of the fitment of aftermarket cats/etc...

Re: Kinetix Y-Pipe

Which Y-pipe is that that have the flex joint… Just from reading the word flex… I’m guessing that they can have some play on the pipes…

Re: Kinetix Y-Pipe

that is the kinetix y-pipe posted above. it has two flex "sections". it does allow for tolerance for fitment. however, i just read a post on the technical forum about someone who put this on and has clearance issues (knocking on the cross brace). i'm curious what the remedy will be. hopefully an easy fix. it does have mandrel bends, so right out of the box, it should assist airflow. but i think the real gains of the y-pipe are to be had in combination with high-flow cats (looking at crawford). i've questioned kinetix about a few concerns on this, if you're interested let me know.
