Exhaust: Shop smart instead of following the crowd
The X pipe makes the biggest difference for sure. Replacing the rear mufflers brought it down to OEM noise level while cruising, can easily sit at 6k on the highway and if I'm not deep into the go pedal it doesn't really sound like I'm doing anything stupid. But it's still much deeper sounding at low RPMs and is slightly louder at WOT than OEM for sure because it's all straight through glasspacks. My goal was "BMW" exhaust and I think this performs similarly to a BMW exhaust with a muffler/resonator delete. I like it for my daily driven commute racer, but it's a little too quiet now with stock cats for a weekend car.... not that I'm trying to call attention to my Bondo'd up shitbox anways...

My G with the OE cats and HKS Rep with Magnaflow X pipe is probably 30-40% louder than stock.
It does drone under load though. Zero rasp though. AUTO TRANS!
DID I MENTION MY $2000 (Motordyne) SET UP RASPED!!!! SORRY TONY!
Perhaps I should consider some chambered portions back there to quiet some of the drone. Meh. Thanks CWS.

The main issues I see with Bolt on exhaust is that they mostly copy each other, changing very little over time.
The main changes that produce results are H or X pipes, single or twin exits and resonators.
The best combos i've heard on VQ's has been custom X pipes long cherry bombs into inline canisters or Y to lengthy cherry bomb to inline canister.

But I would believe it.
The issue is space as you know funneling both banks to 1 resonator can be complicated. Resonator would have to be at least 3 in.
I feel like resonated test pipes are a waste. The only time they do work is if there is no other resonance or limited.

Full setup awaiting install.
O2 bungs installed on Y-pipe for wide-band gauges.
Y-pipe collector
Header collector. Spike style since FI’d.
Resonator per the advice of Nik.
PPE steppes long-tubes, SOHO Y-pipe and single exit w/ resonator.
Haha! Its going to be a banshee that's for sure.
Paul w/ PPE Engineering was awesome; ensuring the long-tubes where built to my specs. The build quality is absolutely top notch and I couldn't be happier with them.
Nik w/ SOHO Motorsports was the same. Lead time was right on the money and every single section arrived flawlessly. No dents, dings or scratches. Superb build quality as well.
The setup I've been running for years has been Stillen shorty headers, Berk HFC's (Until they self destructed), Z1 TP's and a Boral cat-back.
It's definitely going to be the polar opposite.
I'm now at a crossroads... Is now the time to fully build the VQ and upgrade the blower?..
If I could do it all over again, I would have simply swapped in a 2J with some headwork and a single conversion. Oh well... Too deep to turn back now.
