350z pipe and stillen filter question

what up G's, I was wondering if i could possibly put in a 350Z pipe and a K&N cone filter or a Stillen Cone (like the one that you can get with the stillen airbox) on it instead of getting the whole box. I think that i could get more HP if i dont use the box. What do you guys think? is it possible? Please get back to me. Thanks!

If you don't use the box, your intake would be sucking in hot air from the engine which would result in less power.

Honestly, I don't know if you can attach a filter to the stock intake tube *AND* use the stock box. Hopefully someone else will be able to answer your question.

Re: 350z pipe and stillen filter question

The Stillen Hi flo box does three things. It acts as a connector from the pipe to the cone filter. It acts as a shield from the engines hot air, and it draws fresh air from under the car and across the hood using the stock dams. I would not suggest using just a cone filter without the air box. Why would you want to do this? Either go with the stock box and the K&N drop in, or get the Stillen Hi flo. From what I have read, you cant go wrong with either one.

Check out a JWT POP-Charger with the Z pipe and heat shield... Have one on my coupe and it works and sounds great...Lower air duct on the coupe sits right below the P/C

Re: 350z pipe and stillen filter question

I have the Z-Pipe and the Stillen setup. I am very happy with the application. 200% better than the stock setup. Best designed and well thought out intake so far. I thought about getting the K&N setup, but they are taking their sweet time producing their CAI (and losing profits to competitors at the same time). From the looks of the K&N, their heat shield is lacking. Also not into polished aluminum or chrome under the hood.
