What is your expierence w/ HKS??

Just picked this HKS up today

I was on the fence for a-while from what people were saying about the low end TQ loss... I figure tho if I put in a 5/16 spacer it should even that out.

Those with HKS please tell me your expierences with this set up.

Thank you.

At what RPM do you start picking up the loss? and does the gain negate that loss at the low end? In other words in the 1/4 mile are you faster with the HKS?

Thanks!

I found this Dyno Chart, it shows a gain in TQ thru the whole RPM band as well as the HP band. There is a little dip in the TQ but it still shows over the original Dyno numbers...

How is it that a-lot of people say there is actually a loss in the TQ? Could it be that butt dynos are off a bit?

Does anyone have a before and after dyno?

Thanks!

I have HKS w/Crawford Cats, and MREV.......it's LOUD....that is the only noticable thing. I will be Dynoing sometime in the near future. I have dyno's before the exhaust w Mrev so I will see if any gains or losses are present.

I felt no loss with low end torque. I have a dyno appointment for March 1st so we will see what this exhaust really puts out. And yes, I have a baseline

Butt-dynos off? No way, butt-dynos are scientific evidence!

Is there a bad 3000 rpm drone with this exhaust?

i'm curious, why does the dyno with the exhaust start around 1600-1700 rpms, while the baseline dyno starts lower? maybe in that starting gap, there is a dropoff in low-end torque? i remember seeing a dyno somewhere on here where the exhaust killed off ~10ft/lb torque in the lowend up to about 3k rpm. scared me off from getting an exhaust since torque is really what gives you that high acceleration feeling in stoplight to stoplight driving.

You will lose a little low end, but anyone that tells you that the MREV wont give it back does not know what is up. I have the Mrev/Hks setup...the Mrev has a nice jump after 4k for sure, very noticeable difference...and the looks and sound of the HKS...well i dont have to tell ya...BELIEVE!!

If you are installing the HKS yourself . . . Be sure to wipe down the exhaust. This will prevent your finger marks and the like from burning into your new SS exhaust and staining it. Enjoy!
