350Z duct & Stillen Hi-flow
350Z duct & Stillen Hi-flow
I know a lot of you have done the mod in subject, so it must be worth it? I am looking into doing it this month. Stillen hi-flow "claims" 11 hp. What is the HP increse for the combo? Also I have the sedan with aero kit...would I have to remove the front bumper to do install? Lastly, is it possible to install the 350z duct to the stock G35S air box. It just that $250+ for the stillen seems a bit hi.
This subject has been discuss a lot...hopefully I haven't been redundant. Anyway, thank in advance!

Yes, it is redundant. You don't need to remove the front
bumper. Don't know if the 350Z duct adds any HP at all,
just better sound. And yes, the 350Z duct naturally fits the
stock air box. I bought my 350Z duct before the Stillen
and had the K&N in it. It is nowhere near as satisfying as
having the Stillen BTW.

The cheapest place is to go to your friends house who owns a 350z, and convince him how awesome a new intake on his car would sound... and make him buy one... and take his old one... THATs the cheapest way.. lol

Call Jayson at 800-876-7496 from nissanwholesaleparts.com
I just called him today. Tell him you found him through G35driver. He said 75 plus 7 bucks for shipping to LA, CA. They are on back order, but claims he will have some by the end of the month. Call him so he can reserve you one.

I am one of those people with the same setup. I can say based on my experience that both the stillen AND the 350z duct each improved on performance. I had the Stillen first for 3 months and when I swapped out for the 350z duct, i can feel extra boost at over 4000 rpm. It seems to hit the red line faster. yea and sound a bit louder too.
For the duct, I got mine for $40 used from one of the people at the http://www.my350z.com/. You might be able to find one for even cheaper.
Good luck,

Re: 350Z duct & Stillen Hi-flow
When I installed my Stillen Hi-Flow Airbox, I was unable to unplug
the MAS, so I had to remove the screws attaching the entire assembly
to the neck. When I removed the entire assembly, a 3 inch long by
2 inch wide (approximately) sensor was attached! Think about it, this
must greatly disturb air flow. WTF is this all about? And it sits in there
full faced, catching as much air as possible, not side ways. We all
think the by replacing our stock pipe with the 350Z duct and buying
the Stillen Hi-Flow, we allow free flowing air into the manifold.
This has me puzzled. Oh well....the G really pulls better with my
setup. I wonder if the Injen uses the stock MAS.

mas airflow sensor
measure the volume of air going into the engine so the engine control module(ecm) knows how much fuel to add for a good burn
By changing the amount of air going thru the tube the engine may get confused for awile while it learns the new parameters
Resetting the ECM allows the engine to adjust quicker

That is what confused me...
Should I expect problems unplugging the MAF?

Re: 350Z duct & Stillen Hi-flow
Call it what you will, it is the air sensor attached behind the
stock CAI on the tube just before the bellows. Mass Air Sensor (MAS)
Mass Air Flow (MAF) ?

Re: 350Z duct & Stillen Hi-flow
I got a problem. Although I don't have the Stillen Air Box, I have the 350Z air duct. I installed and it works but its seems to me that it doesn't fit perfectly but the difference is small enough to be called satisfactory. Anyone in the same situation or just me??
Re: 350Z duct & Stillen Hi-flow
Not me! - It fit perfetcly, everything lined up. Where's it off on yours? Did you bolt it to the plenum? If you did, was that bolt lined up properly?
