DIY - Painting Your Headlights
hey i wonder if any of you guys could help me out. I got a pair of 06 headlights that has broken tabs. i also have 05 headlights with no broken tabs. Is it possible to switch out the back housing so that my 06 headlights uses my 05 back housing?

The lens on 06s won't swap out onto 03-05 coupes bases. The top point on then doesnt seat properly and you won't get a good seal and it will stick up a bit from the fender

Attempted to paint my lights yesterday. 200 degrees didn't losen the adhesive enough, is 220 the highest recommended temp? I felt like I was just damaging the housing trying to pry it apart, once adequately heated should it come apart rather easily? Will most likely attempt again today or tomorrow after work :fingerscrossed:
Loving the completed pics!!

I left it in for 7mins first, then put it back in the oven for ~10.
Cool, thanks man. I'll try that. It just felt like it was requiring way too much strength.
I need to double check and make sure I didn't put it in first with the HID ballast still attached
, I'm apparently a tad impatient.

Did you take the 3 screws out the back? Also, did you pry the tabs off on each side before trying to take the lens off? Finally, start from the bottom of the headlight/lens when going to pry it off.
Good luck
Good luck
I'm going to b doing this mod at a friend's work over the weekend. And we won't have access to an oven or even be close to one. We have access to a heat gun, would this make the taking apart the seal of the headlight harder or easier?
Easier to damage or harder to pry apart etc? Any info much appreciated!
