I believe these cars have a neutral switch though I don't know what it is used for. Maybe its possible to accidentally swap it with the reverse switch? Had any work done on the car lately? Or maybe your reverse switch needs an adjustment? Sorry I can't be of more help. Never heard of this

Look in the service manuals posted on the site if no one speaks up. My guess would be a reverse position switch on the transmission linkage is misadjusted. Should be a fairly easy fix. That's IF its on the linkage. sure someone here knows or can look it up. I'd look but I'm on my phone. First thing I would do is either read the manual or if you know how pull your shifter boot and trim away and look down in there to see if you see a switch of some type. The things with wires going to it. If you see one or two put the car in neutral(cause that's when your lights currently turn on. The switch you see being activated is the one that's turning the lights on. Now put the car in reverse and adjust it so it makes contact when in this position. BEFORE STARTING THE CAR move the shifter back through all the gears and make sure the lights now are working as they should. This will insure you adjusted the right switch if there is a nutral position switch as well. Hope that helps.

Good luck

Your note says you have a 6MT but you're saying your reverse lights only turn on in neutral?

Sounds like your backup lamp switch on the left side of the transmission is screwed up.

Unfortunately it's also a PITA to get that one removed with the factory "weight plate/dampener" thing in the way. Hopefully yours has already been removed or has rusted off.
