Issue installing LED for 2004 G35X door/step lights

Hello folks,

I am a new user to g35driver.com and I thought I'd ask you all a question regarding an issue I have.

I purchased 2 pairs of the SJ 6SMD-W LED lights for my car's door/step lights as I was recommended that they are universal for both the map/dome lights as well as the door/step lights by the retailer whom I bought it from.

I also did some online research and apparently they are 31mm festoons or whatever.

However, when I took apart the old/stock halogen light from the door light bay, and tried to insert the LED one, it did not fit as it was too big for it to fit in between the clips.

So my guessing is that I was given the wrong ones for the door/step lights and I should get smaller ones instead or am I doing it all wrong here?

Here is the pic of the light I bought vs the stock one in the car.

Thanks in advance!

Mine were the same, but what I did was pull apart the copper clips the bulb seats into a tiny bit and they popped rite in and worked great!

Did you use some sort of tool to pull apart the copper clips in the fixture or whatever? I don't want to touch it because power is going to it constantly unless I disconnect the battery...

I just used a flathead screwdriver and my finger on the other side and spread it apart. I would be very careful because if you break it your kinda out of luck, but I doubt that will happen unless you bend it back and forth a bunch of times.

And I didn't run into any problems with the battery connected. If your worried about it you may have to unplug battery or do it while a rubber covered screwdriver.

Al right so I managed to install the LEDs heh. You were right. They do fit. I just had to angle it properly so the light faces properly on the door/inside and it fit right in. No need spread the clips apart. Just popped it an voila.

Thanks again for the suggestion .
