Reason being is because ive had S2k projectors in my previous car and i Know that the 06 projectors (Larry found out that they are the Exact projectors from the Fx35/45) wont be as good as the s2k's

Are you serious?

We have the same projectors as the FX headlights? The FX headlights seem to have alot more width than our 06 projectors. I like our headlights but they don't seem to have alot of color. Cutoff is a faint blue/purple. And sometimes the foreground lighting doesn't seem to be as bright compared to another car with projectors lined up with me. Could be just bias. I hope I'll see a change when the bulbs break in.

They get bluer as they age. They do not get more white. You also lose useable lumens in the output.

I don't know much about the headlights so please bear with me. Is it possible to get the 06 headlight housings and keep the clearance strip(lit) of the 05?

Your choices are either buying a 06 assembly and trying to cut a perfect strip for the clearance area, then rerouting some wires, or retrofiting projectors into a 05 assembly. I think it would be easier to put in the projectors.

so... what can I salvage from the OEM 05 headlights and use in the 06 headlights?

Would 6000k/6600k in the 06 projectors project white light with blue cutoff or bluish white light(its not a cop attention grabber is it)?

You could use the ballasts and bulbs from the 05 light.

6000K = blue light with darker blue cutoff in a projector. I've been down that route.

So practicallly I could reuse all the bulbs from the 05 headlights except for the d2r, which i have to get a d2s replacement.

also do I have to reaim the headlights or do they come aimed at factory spec

No you can scrape the coating of the d2r, and cut a tab and it will work for the d2s. You can safely go from reflectors to projectors, but shouldn't go the other way!

ok i read every post and everyone says you use the same harness and same ballast.
I know for the reg driving lights you have to use d2s not d2r.
I'm stuck on one thing though i know the fogs are H4 on '05 n under.
Why is everyone talking about H1?
I even went looking for H1 Xenon bulbs all i see are single prong bulbs when H4 are 3 pronged.
So are the fogs H1 Xenon or H1 HID's?
If they are H1 HIDS doesn't that mean they need their own ballast?
IF they are H1 Xenon can anyone post a link to the H1 Xenon 6000 bulbs they are using?

for 06 projector housing:

Fog = H1 Halogen
low/high = D2S HID
signal = 7440
city light = 194 or 168

some people get higher kelvin coated halogen H1 so that they will match the HIDs in color, others get yellow bulbs

The projectors inside your 2006 headlights are stucked inside the headlight and the view form the projector is blocked off mostly by the cosmetric trim on the outer part of your headlight assembley.

The projectors are not 100% identical to the FX ones but about 90% the same other then the outer frame being different for mounting purposes and the projector lenses being different as well.

The facotry 4100, 4300k will colorshift overtime of abotu 100 hours and you'll eventually end up closer to 5000k. That's why philips make a 85122+ bulb avaiable at the dealership, this is a 5000k bulb to match the used bulbs if one side has gotten into an accident and there's no need to replace both blubs to make the color look the same.

Best Regards,
Larry
