turn on bake on oven to 375 degrees, turn it off when its ready (very important) place headlight inside oven for 10 minutes
remove from oven and remove 3 screws on the back of headlight
open up the headlight at the seams and snaps carefully.

Reheat again and press it back together when you are done with painting housing or whatever you were doing.

WOW nice job on the removal, where did you get the angel eyes and what bulb did you use for the fog light replacement?

375 is WAY too hot, that method may work in the oven you use but its risky for everyone to try that. The melting point of the glue is right at 215 and the light will melt at about 265 for 15-20 minutes. Be safe about it and heat them at 215 for 15 min. Even if you forget them in the oven for a few hours it will not damage the light. Also, be sure to keep the light away from the heating element by centering it in the oven.

The angel eyes are from www.aacstyle.com and the fogs are PIAAs.

Actually, the oven is TURNED OFF. so the headlight NEVER reach the temperature, I have used it more than 10 times on 4 sets of headlights, they've been just fine.

*EDIT*

If you used a heatgun to open, and were only going to paint the headlight-housing, would you remove all of the bulbs/harness? I only want the face painted black, so the entire bulb area is going to have to be taped anyway. Just wondering what the norm is...

...And I when I removed the plugs behind the high/low beams, I wasn't thrilled with the prospect of dropping a screw or having difficulty getting them back in.

LCA575: Thanks, man. The pictures were REAAAALLLLY helpful.

For those who would like try it. You don't have to go that high w/ T. The epoxy is supposed to be heat resistant up to ~150-160C, just set a bake to 200C, preheat and anneal the headlight unit for ~10mins.

Good luck.

Btw. The results are worth trying. Espec. black inserts on black ext.

200C is 392 F, so 200C is too hot. 190C would work if you use a celsius oven
