Well the plan was to do a lot of work on the car today, but this week was rough and I can't seem to drag my lazy a$$ out there. I got as far as putting the car up on the ramp/blocks I made so I can get the jack under the front, and popping the hood to cool the engine off. That's it.

Now I have to sit here and stare at these boxes for the next week or more...and no new mods

that's easy to do (spend money).
my oil leak turns out to be the rear of the steel pan, its a little rusted and i fixed it once after i first got the car last year. i may order a new steel pan. at least its not the rear main seal..clean as a whistle.

are there any options to the stock steel pan? greater capacity..internal baffling? anyone?

i noticed my right front lower ball joint boot is spewing grease while i was under there. time for a suspension joint and bushing refresh. the rear diff bushing needs replacement also, the car is starting to feel squirmy on the road as the rear diff is not held tight.

wish i could find a set of 4.08s cheap and do it all at once. i have rear camber arms to install also, just need the eccentrics for the rear toe.

never done...

Is the internal baffling that weird ticking noise on idle?
I'm interested too
Won't it hang a little too low and scrape if you get a little bit larger size?

No. The iternal baffling keeps the oil around the pickup during high G loads, instead of sloshing to the side.

The increased capacity is by kicking out to the sides, not deepening the pan..at least on other motors..nissan sr20det being one example of aftermarket support in that area.

Clicking at idle may be injector sounds. Pick up some Seafoam and run thru the fuel system, follow the directions you can find a lot of places to pull some in thru the vacuum system also to get to the inside of the plenum without taking it apart. May be carbon build up if the car was never run hard. And the fuel system will benefit too.

So Friday morning I decided that today was the day to knock out all my parts that have been collecting.

New Denso radiator, oem water pump and thermostat.
AMS light weight pulleys (crank, idler and alternator)
Front crank seal
Grille painted and installed in the Inven front bumper.

Also installed the lower cold air extension on the K&N Typhoon intake, and relocated the GReddy catch can to the rear of the motor on the passenger side. The look is much less cluttered now.

The AMS pulleys are OEM size, so not underdriving any accessories, but about 1/4 the weight, except for the crank pulley obviously. I wish I had weighed them both before installing. The result in lost rotational weight gives back the hp that was being used to carry the weight. I'm keeping a close eye and ear on the engine bc of the removal of the harmonic balancer. No issues or resonance thus far.

This little piece of plastic will ruin your day. The shoe for the chain guide and the timing chain tensioner. I broke a tab off, luckily it popped out and not into the timing cover. Luckily again I have a local buddy that drifts a G sedan and had a few spare engines. The one I got from him looks much newer and far less worn than mine.

The piece goes here.

Tucked nicely in the back

Pays to read the FSM for the procedure you want to do first. I know this but, should have done it long ago to be prepared. The top pulley I thought was the water pump, it is just an idler. The WP is run off the timing chain. Oh well..done now.

Fits perfectly, no trimming and a simple bracket. Same lines off the valve covers (PCV on passenger side, and vent on rear drivers side) and one out to the intake.

Nice work. Why did you HAVE to replace the radiator? Was it spent?

The radiator and everything else on the car is almost 14 yrs old and 126k miles. Plastic tank radiators don't last indefinitely, especially in this climate. Also the fins had an impression of the fan and shroud from a past incident. I really don't know the history of this car, now I have records for it and the cost was under $150 for the radiator, water pump and thermostat. Going forward it is one more thing I don't have to worry about.

You need some nicer wheels to compliment those B-bos. Color match the hood would be nice too. Just my opinion. Other that, seems like you've put some TLC into it. Nice work, and keep at it!

Looking good epik, haven't been on for a while just saw the older posts, I really like your fitment on your grill, I got a matte black one and don't like it too much looking to get rid of it or throw it away lol
It just bugs me that it needs a little double sided tape on the bottom or it might be that I'm not installing it right.
Loving the whip, looks happy and flying haha
