Road trip
Re: Road trip
I live about 1.5 miles straight north of Wrigley Field.
I used to live in Country Club Hills a while back, which is just the next city over from Tinley Park, so I am familiar with the area, as it was a few years ago. I just haven't been that specific way recently enough to remember the Speedway.

Re: Road trip
I would like to put tentative statement of going Sunday. Barring anything popping up last minute. The Speedway sounds good to me. Any suggestions on a quicker way to get there from Belmont & Harlem in Chicago besides going straight down Harlem?

MayorDelaney:
I'm up by Wrigley every Wednesday to play volleyball at LeMoyne elementary school (2 blocks east on Waveland). It's easy to get to Tinley from there ... jump on Lake Shore to 55 to 94 East, Dan Ryan to I-57, exit I-80 West, first exit will be Harlem.
ekaz:
Glad you can join us! Belmont and Harlem is a tough one, you're right in between all the highways. It's a 26 mile drive straight down Harlem but that would probably take 90 minutes. I would suggest heading east to 90/94 East and follow the same directions as above for the Mayor (minus Lake Shore and I-55).
If anyone knows of anyone else that might like to join us, please feel free to invite them...

Re: Road trip
Sorry all, can't make it up Sunday. Turns out I have to pick my parents up at the airport and drop them off at their house. My brother was going to do it, but since bailed so that leaves me. Maybe next time.

Re: Road trip
Here's the deal as of right now. There's only 4 people confirmed to go:
BeerViper, ekaz, MayorDaley, myG35ZX
LMaz is pouring concrete Saturday and is still not 100%. I spoke to Aftrbnr on the phone today and he has other plans for Sunday but said if LMaz will go then he might cancel his plans and ride with her.
That would put us at 6 (if Aftrbnr rides with LMaz then 5 cars).
Looking at the weather right now they are calling for T-storms in Chicago on Sunday and I checked Utica (where Starved Rock is) and the forecast looks the same there. Now considering that every single time this year I've had to rely on the weather forecast and they've been wrong even 6 hours in advance, who knows what will happen. Personally I would rather not go if the weather isn't nice. We'll see how everything looks tomorrow and then make a final decision.

Going to pick up my gf at O'hare now. Then we're headed to Speedway in Tinley.

Re: Road trip
Thanks to all that came out (all 1 of you ). It turned out to be a beautiful day. I was hesitant to go since it was only myself with my girlfriend and MayorDaley. I'm glad we still went, beautiful country and it was only about 65 minute drive from the meeting spot in Tinley at Harlem & I-80.
I'll post some pics tomorrow. Must say I'm disappointed that even the few people that committed to going didn't show besides MayorDaley. Your loss...

Re: Road trip
That's a good picture - it doesn't show the scratches on my car.
I just got my pictures back a few minutes ago and uploaded them to the Yahoo pictures thing.
http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/dde...bum?.dir=/b95d
The trip out there was cool and I think that it is a good way to do a meet, where a drive can be part of it. The weather was about as good as one can expect. I definitely plan on making it back there for the fall as the trees change.
BeerViper - the guy tailgating me in the Subaru looked pretty pissed off after I left room for you to pull in front of me on the way back after you passed him. That's what he deserves for driving that car.

Re: Road trip
Great pics! And how can you have any scratches on your car when you don't drive it!
I thought it was perfect for a meet. Right around a 60 minute drive with *NO CONSTRUCTION* as some people thought. Fall will be a very good time to go back.
Yeah that was funny when I pulled in the right lane but there was nowhere to go because that guy was riding your *** ... then you let me in . Maybe if he was driving a different car we would have let him pass too
