NJ: Do you tip gas attendants?

I don't typically. I drive my Jeep all winter and am on the road a lot so i tend to pick up a lot of dirt and salt on it. If its cold and the guys comes out and does my windows and stuff, i will toss him a few bucks... I do prefer to be my own Petroleum Distribution Engineer though.... hate that about NJ... I got yelled at before for filling my own.. oh well...

when i first saw this title to this thread i thought it was some sort of joke. ive never heard of anyone tipping a gas attendant. i dont even understood why someone would go to full service anyway, nonetheless give someone a tip. gas is expensive enough as is, why would you pay like 10 cents more a gallon to have some dude do what you could do yourself.

mr bill martin, in NJ, it's the law that you use full service. Why? beats me.
And before you bash it too much, keep in mind, NJ gas is cheaper (at least comparing everywhere I've been in NJ to everywhere I've been in NY) AFTER the full service, PLUS it's more fuel efficient (no 10 percent ethanol BS or whatever).
At least I'm pretty sure about the fuel efficiency... could be wrong. Either way, it's cheaper. WHere my parents live, it's ~25 cents/gallon less comparing 93 to 93 octane.
18 gallon fillup (almost empty), that's 4 and a half bucks. Not bad.
