What should I do next?

I just received a new CF TS Hood from CarbonLTD but it has a small crack next to one of the vent. What should I do?

When the item was being delivered to my home, one of the box corner was ripped apart/damaged but the inside the box contained another box which was well protected with foam & bubble wrap.

Here are the pictures of the cracked hood:

according to that last picture, it doesnt look like the shipping affected it... unless you saw a hole in the box directly over it... but you mentioned the damage was on a corner of an outter box...

contact the vendor i suppose... if they have quality customer service, they will replace it for you

I would definately contact the vendor ASAP. It doesn't really seem like shipping damage, but who knows. The vendor should have you return it and exchange it for another one. Hopefully you don't have to eat up the return shipping cost.

I pmed Jim about it but he kept claiming that he checked throughly before he shipped it and it was perfect. I also didn't believe it was caused by the shipping company. There was no damage so whatever to the center box.

I think it was a manufacture defect. He PMed me back and told me that he would ask Seibon to try to fix it & I had to pay for the S/H or he wanted to bring it to the body shop for a repair. lol, I will bring it to the shop but I will not pay for it.

It's carbon fiber...How are they going to repair it? Bondo? They can't just put a carbon fiber patch on that...

Andy,

The burden should not be upon you. They should either send you a new hood or refund you all of your money. Keep us posted. I am curious how well they treat their customers in situations such as this.

That's what I thought at first. Instead of feeling joy by getting the CF hood, I am now worrying about it and have to deal with a cracked hood myself.

If you paid through paypal, I am sure you can file a claim. If through a CC, I would dispute the sale. Whether it was the company or the shipper, you should not be responsible to "fix" or replace the item. You paid for a new hood and you got a messed up one.

+10000000000...........

Give the vendor an opportunity to resolve this issue in a professional manner. If a satisfactory resolve cannot be reached, exercise your options, quickly.

Thats what I'm saying. He received the hood on Tuesday and won't give me a chance to resolve the issue before making a bunch of threads. Everyone who knows my company knows I resolve any issue.

Jim
How are you planning to resolve the issue?
You kept me round and round with your promises. You left me with no choice.
I informed you on Tuesday about the issue YET you haven't given me a solution. Should I post all the conversation between you and me here too so that others will know who tell the TRUTH?

It's unfortunate that it has come to this. Before you do that, Andy . . . Start up a new off-line dialog with Jim to revisit an attempt at resolving this. I am sure that Jim will beat you to it. Good luck!

Andy, I tried the off-line dialog. First he said [A] then next he would say [B], then [C].... I am confused. I have never received a solution from him.

I replied back to him but no response....again...

This was his early responses:

[1]he offered me to help file the claim with the carrier and I accepted his help.
[2]he then replied it back that I should be the one who dealt with the claim.
[3]Then after I posted the comments in the threads, he offered me again to help me with the claim but he also included a negative remark saying that he highly doubt that I will get anything from the claim.

So what's the use of filing a claim if I will not get anything from it!!

Things like this do take time to resolve. Be patient and give that guy a chance to work it out.

If no resolution is possible after allowing a fair time, then take further dispute action. There's also the I-trader rating here too. That's what it's here for.

I know you're upset, but we here really don't need to see your private communication with that vendor.
I-trader ratings are a powerful resource for ppl considering if they should do business with any member or vendor on here.

Good Luck Andy and hope it all works out good for you.
