The second level is known as Third Party, Fire and Theft (or TPF&T), which will cover you for exactly those things, damage by fire or loss by theft of the automobile or bike, as well as damages to third parties or their property. This is a little more expensive.

The third level is 'Comprehensive' and essentially adds damage done by you, the main category not covered by the other two levels. This is the most expensive, as you would expect, and there will also be many other extra services. For example, some policies will provide a vehicle for you to use while yours is being repaired or replaced, while others may not. There are different services offered, sometimes built-in and sometimes at an extra cost, so when shopping around it is important to find out exactly what is included and what is additional.

3rd Level is where you specify to your Insurance that your car is not stock.
It's either Modified or Classic. You'll pay extra but when your car is wreck; as long as you have all the receipts you will not be covered for the stock value of your vehicle.

So ask yourself.

For example; you've invested over 10K in your car, which insurance would you like to carry and get some of your money back when things go bad with the car.

i believe i have all these things covered - even the rental car - i just dont need one.

the only thing i dont have is the additional insurance and thats because my broker said they didnt offer it because aig didnt offer it - which was a lie because aig told me that they do - but only up to 5k (which IMO is better then nothing at all.)

Samantha I just saw this and I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost a car due to my home catching fire in 2001. It was a 2 month old Mercury Cougar. My insurance (Geico) waived the deductible, they said total loss by fire waives it. I asked about the aftermarket wheels and stereo, they said no problem, put something back on the car so it can be mobile enough to get on the trailer, just throw a stereo on the seat and were good. They had me fax a copy of the bill of sale from the dealership and cut me a check within a day. I also worked in a body shop for a while and every ins. company would let a total loss customer come in and exchange parts, I don't recall ever working with AIG, but none of the others cared as long as something was put back to replace it. I say take whatever aftermarket parts are YOURS, you have not been compensated for them and if you do end up getting paid you can always just hand them to them in a box. The insurance co. is trying to screw you, maybe it's because your a woman, or they're trying to get more when they auction your car. But don't settle anything until you have at least spoken to some sort of a lawyer. Look online for one that gives free consultations, at least you can ask a couple questions. Good luck and hang in there.

Briefly describe why you are requesting assistance?:

My car caught fire and is considered a total loss & due to the broker selling me a business policy with (her) stated value, I am only insured for $15k and my car is valued @ $45k. If she would have sold me the correct type of insurance I would be insured for replacement value instead of stated like all other policies I have ever had. When I spoke with the adjuster @ AIG she said Variety Ins should have never sold me that policy and they were having problems with brokers selling business policies to people who shouldn't have them.
When Variety sold me this policy she said the only difference from my previous policy would be 50k more unisured motorists and approx $200 less per month.
Variety will not give me their E & O policy #.
In addition, AIG will not even allow me to buy back my prize possesion that I have invested so much time, money, and love into.

What would you consider to be a fair resolution?:

To receive the replacement value for my vehicle like I would have if they hadn't sold me a bunk policy to keep me as a client on the final day of my previous policy.

im trying my hardest.. so ill see if they contact me tomorrow..

AIG is really bending you over.
My RSX was robbed 3 years ago. They took everything (sadling in about a 2 hour window). Corbeu seats, dvd player, rims, W7s, amps, JR supercharger, cf hood, even my steering wheel. I had USAA and they totalled out my car and gave me money to replace everything stolen.
Keep fighing them. Also just strip your car to bare bones. Dont even let them take a light bulb.

i dont know.. when my friend's car was stolen, it was kind of easy to get the extra money for the DVD player and other things worth $1500.. but you are asking $30k on top of a car that's worth $15k.

Good Luck.

i understand - but i never asked for anything - that is what the adjuster valued my car at. before i even walked outside he had big 40,000 with a circle around it (which means its a total loss)

i would be happy with 25k.

Time to hire an attorney and file a lawsuit against AIG.

AIG has nothing really to do with it, from what I can tell. The blame lies entirely on the person who sole her the insurance. AIG cannot give 40k, if it specifically limits it at 15k.

oh ic what's going on..
so your limits are @ $15k..
you were probably paying lower premiums..
that sux. that's how those brokers cheat you.
man.. no clue who you can sue.. because doesn't your insurance forms/cards/invoice state your limit? I have a 300k limit on my policy.

Best of luck.
